MK2s PETG Printed Parts
I have printed upgraded parts for my mk2s in PETG. The parts seem a bit larger and the hot-end cooling fins spin in the extruder body and cover. They are off by a slight amount causing no friction. I print in PLA and they fit great. Any ideas? Printing at 240 .4mm nozzle.
Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
I replaced all my parts with PETG using S3D as slicer at 235°C.
Everything fits like a glove as all my other parts no matter of what material they are made.
Could it be possible you are using a slicer where there is a scaling attached to the material settings?
Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
No on the scaling. I am going to re-print and verify. I just dowloaded MK2s stl's again. It's possible a slicer setting was off or something.
Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
I just reprinted, still very loose. unable to tighten down enough to make it snug..
Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
You could sand a little off the inside face of the front cover this will allow the parts to clamp the heatsink
Or reprint the parts with a small reduction in scale... (is the extruder stepper motor loose in it's openning? if it's tight then re scaling will stop it fitting. )
measure the inside of your extruder housing say it measures 22.8mm (Use your value here)
the heatsink fins are ~=22mm diameter, so you probably want 22.25mm hole for it
the scaling factor will be 22.25 /22.8(use your value here) = 0.975xxxxxxx call it .98
and if you use your resultant value in Slic3r, your new part should be pretty near right
OR get some PTFE tape like plumbers use, and wrap it around the slot at the top of your extruder to make it larger and clamp on that!

Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
i figured it out, because i had to print in PETG, my 1st layer height was .3mm, that threw off the height of everything by .1mm on the cover and the body, giving .2mm clearance. I changed the initial layer height to .4mm and it worked fine because the layer size all lined up again making it virtually the same as a .2mm initial layer height as far as the rest of the part was concerned.
Re: MK2s PETG Printed Parts
actually the part is still loose, i managed to sand off the top surface of each part a little, this seemed to work.
