MK2S ordered by mistake

A friend was so impressed with my MK3 that he ordered one- but received a MK2S. He said he paid $1000 US but I have not confirmed that yet- I don't want to cause un-necissary trouble. I was reading on the forum a post about someone upgrading to a MK3 bed with spring steel surface- is that a worthwhile upgrade? He posted here [Eitan] - https://manual.prusa3d.com/Answers/View/1059/Possible+to+upgrade+bed+only

I attempted to add a comment but Prusa does not recognize my email [Yes- the one I am using now]- I have to sign in to the main site and then go to the forum. Thanks Gene

I guess what I am really wondering is if he should go thru whatever process necessary to get a MK3 printer. I have had good experience with Prusa and would suppose that if this was a mistake they would do the correct thing. I will be maintaining this printer for whatever life I have left, I think. Thanks Gene in Mpls, Mn.

Turns out that he saw the I3 and thought it was a MK3, so ordered the wrong model. I was just talking to him and he is thinking that he will order a MK3 [we are oldpharts with too much money and not enough time to go]. Still wondering about upgrading the bed to the MK52 with steel sheet though.

I believe the MK2s to MK2.5 upgrade gets you pretty close to an MK3. You don't get the 24v capability and trinamic drivers so you have longer heating times, slower speeds, and lose some other features. The main reason to do the upgrade would be the bed. Is it worth it? I don't know as I am happy with the standard PEI bed on the MK2s. You can try it out and then decide to upgrade if you don't like it. (Feel free to post your conclusion when you get there.)

If you think you've got the wrong order in any way, just contact Prusa. They've been overwhelmed by their growth but really seem to try to make a good effort at customer service.
