Filament won't feed into extruder?

I haven't done much 3d printing lately and may have forgotten the lingo, so not sure if extruder is the right term. My i3 Mk2 is having issues feeding filament into the top of the extruder (the entry point to the hotend, thats the extruder right?). If I remove the screws that hold the roller motor thing that feeds the filament tight and manually put the filament in it will go but requires some work. Like I have to rotate the filament a lot to get the curve in the filament to line up properly to fit in the hole.

To try to be clearer it goes into the hole in the orange 3d printed part fine. I believe inside there is a small PTFE tube that is kind of concave on the top to help the filament slide in. I can't see in there so I'm not sure if it's jammed or bent or what. But like i said i can eventually manually feed filament in and then when I put the screws back in to hold the piece tight to the roller it feeds fine and doesn't hang up. Obviously I want it to work automatically, what do i need to do to fix this?

I have done some research and I believe I can replace the piece of tubing, but I am wondering if its easier to replace the whole extruder. If i can replace the whole thing for under $75 and it saves me a decent amount of time/work in fixing it thats fine. If its just as much work/time/disassembly to replace the tubing itself which i assume is much cheaper then thats fine too. I'm just not looking forward to disassembling it, afraid i will cause more issues.

Not sure about upgrade paths either, but if whatever work I need to do lends itself to any upgrade routes(2.5, 3, although I think the 3 needs a bigger power supply, MMU?) I might be down to do that as well.

Any help would be much appreciate.
