Extruder cover warped
The securing point where the fan nozel is attached to the extruder body has warped. Causing the nozel to point down. It now gets very close to the print.
Is this a common problem?
Is there a fix to stop it happening again.
If the extruder cover is replaced should the printer be fully calibrated?
Is aBS a suitable material to use for this?
I am hoping if i replace the extruder cover a complete recal is not needed as the printer is going very well.
Appreciate any comments
Thanks
Regards
Les

This can happen in printing higher temperature material. Post an image.
I printed mine with PC Blend - no more warping!

RE: Extruder cover warped
My original fan shroud (ABS I assume) started to droop after a few months of heavy use, and I also reprinted it, although an 'improved' remixed one, with PC Blend. The photo below shows both the remixed one and the original. I printed both in PC Blend before shutting down the printer to change it. I ended up using the newer design, as it was indeed a drop-in replacement. It's been fine since.

I prefer Urban Grey to show dirt better.

That is probably from the heat. ASA or PC Blend will prevent the warping unless you print an even hotter material.

Thanks,
Cant really complain, have done 40 days of printing over 3 years. very easy and quick to reprint and fit.
Although the greatest printing has been done with pla.

It only took me a few hours with ABS temperatures to warp my first failed part. Now, the shroud is out of, ABS, ASA, or PC Blend.

I made the replacement one out of ABS. I have only just started printing in ABS so probably why its just showed up.
Anyway the fix is quick so hope ABS does it.
Thanks again for your valued comments.

When you are ready, PC filament from 3DXMAX is great from replacement parts and it will take the heat.

Thanks,
PC blend or Pure PC?. Comments please.
RE: Extruder cover warped
I would use the Prusa PC Blend, as we know it to be very good.
RE: Extruder cover warped
I like both filaments. PC is tougher and I think more heat resistant but it is also more challenging to print.
