X slip

Hi, very happy with my Prusa, but I had an odd thing happen today. While printing a model that I've printed before, the x axis slipped about a 1/4 inch. It continued to print at the slipped location. It is getting hotter here in AZ. Is it possible that the stepper got too hot?

Thanks,

John

Re: X slip

Did you check the usually fixes for layer shifting?

Loose pulley on the motor / is the grub screw on the motor pulley tighthened against the flat side of the motor shaft?
Does the axis move smoothly when powered off?
Are you printing in silent mode?
Is it possible the filament spool was binding causing too much friction?

I didn't build it, but the grub looks correct.

belt is taught, sounds like a low guitar string when plucked.

The x motion is smooth.

No silent mode. I'm not even sure how you set that. It makes plenty of noise printing.

The filimant binding seemed ok. I will retry the print.
