Oops... Axis stepper and Extruder stepper transposed!

Hi to all,
This is my first post and my first Original Prusa I3 MK2S construction. I purchased it 12 months ago and put it together last week.
Turn on all working but having some teething problems.

First extruder print fan not running. Have checked all connections all good. No broken wires, so not sure where to go from here.
Second, X stop not working? However my main concern is I managed to mix up the extruder stepper with the x axis stepper. In other words they
are they are transposed. (Note to self read instructions properly).

Will this make a difference in performance? Do I need to swap them over?

Hi Ivor

is the X axis motor connecter to the extruder driver on the Rambo, and installed in the extruder position,
and the extruder motor installed in the X axis position and connected to the X axis driver on the Rambo

there is a note in the shop,

'Ensure you are ordering the correct motor! There is a label on the bottom of the casing. The reason is, each motor has different cable length.

so the answer is,

yes! it does matter, the extruder motor has a longer cable. if you have put the X axis motor in the extruder position, then the wiring loom will be tight!, or short resulting in restricted movement and excessively sharp cable movement!,

Re: Oops... Axis stepper and Extruder stepper transposed!

on the extruder fan, please check the polarity at the plug... one of my fans was reverse wired... using a pin, I pressed the pin retaining tag in, and pulled the wires out of the connector housing, then inserted them in the other positions...

but I would have expected them to correct that by now!

Hi Joan,
Hmmm, bummer, guess I will redo. What a bore.
Re the fan, I have checked polarity, pin only fits one way right?
Also, x axis stop not working. The list seems to go on.
Enjoying the challenge, LOL.
