MK2S Calibrate Z hits bed at points 5, 6 and 8

While performing Z calibration, the nozzle pushes into the heat bed at points 5, 6 and 8.
It pushes into the bed quite significantly at points 5 and 8, visibly pushing the bed down. At point 6 it also pushes into the bed, but only slightly compared to 5 and 8. I'm assuming that's not the expected behaviour.

I already lowered the PINDA sensor significantly, to the point it's almost at the same height as the nozzle. I've repeatedly lowered the probe further, finally using just the thickness of the cover page of the 3D Printing Handbook because the probe had trouble sensing the bed at all, at this height it finally finds all 9 points during Z calibration but it does push into the bed.

How should I go about fixing this? Is it an issue with the bed or the PINDA sensor?
I have tested the pinda with the flathead screwdriver and the red light does go out when I come near it so I'm quite confused why it doesn't sense the heat bed at the aforementioned points (before pushing the bed down for a while with the nozzle)

You are too close.

You should have stopped the calibration the very first time your nozzle hit the bed, no way to tell what damage you may have done by allowing it to push the bed quite significantly. Let's hope you get away with it.

First check all the bed screws to make sure none are slack or too tight. Get your sheet of paper out and slowly lower the nozzle till it just starts to drag when you move the paper to and fro. Use a zip tie or a credit card to position the PINDA. If it is not reading all nine points correctly without contacting the bed at that level, raise up 1/4 of a turn = 0.25mm and try again.

Good luck,

Raise the PINDA a quarter turn? A quarter turn of what, the only bolt near the probe is just the one holding it in place, isn't it?

Thanks for the answer though, will continue tinkering with the PINDA's distance from the bed again as soon as I get home from work.

The PINDA has a thread. One full thread is 1mm. So you start with the bottom of the PINDA one zip tie or credit card thickness (both are approx. 0.7mm) above the nozzle when it is in contact with your paper and raise it by 0.25mm if it fails at that height. Sorry I was not clearer the first time.

Hi, it's the first time that the nozzle crashes on the bed ?

I had no problems with the Z calibration, until I update drivers and apps to the version 2.1.7 on my MK2S.
After that, if I remember correctly, these 3 points fails to calibrate correctly.

I solved this by recalibrate all axes and since that, I do not have any problems.

I tried this, and now the pinda seems to fail to trigger at point 3 rather than the aforementioned points. Which at least is different so perhaps it's progress.
The error is "Bed levelling failed. Sensor didn't trigger. Debris on nozzle? Waiting for reset." which I've read usually requires lowering the PINDA.

Well, it was the first time the nozzle crashed into the bed yes, it's brand new.
I'll try doing the XYZ calibration then, figured I shouldn't try that until I could calibrate the Z on its own.
I'll report back with my findings.

EDIT: It didn't find the very first point during XYZ calibration, I'll do some troubleshooting from here and come back if I can't figure it out.
EDIT2: After some working around, I went almost all the way through calibrating XYZ which is amazing progress!
Currently getting "XYZ calibration compromised. Left front calibration point not reachable", which is a new error for me so that's honestly pretty great. I'll look into this more when I have some time tonight, thanks for all the help, both of you!

Congratulations, with a completed XYZ calibration you can find out what skew angle your frame has. Have a look on the LCD all the way at the bottom of the menu is Support. All the way down at the end of that is XYZ calibration details. It sounds like you have a bed skew and this causes the pinda not to find the calibration point at the expected location.

There is a page in the manual that specifies the order the calibration/testing needs to be run in, and this is why XYZ calibration is high on the list.
