Extruder Motor Stopped
Hey, I have been printing for over a year with minimal problems. But my last print failed and it looks like I had a jam. (Last 2 layers didn't finish, and a section had little blobs on it) Now the Extruder will not turn, even when I try heating it up and moving it through the settings.
Trouble shooting:
1. Heated up the Nozzel to 200, and tried setting-> move Extruder and noluck.
2. Removed the screws on the wheel and tried to manually push the Filament through, and it works fine. (Filament came out)
3. Tried to Manually turn the Motor, while the printer was off, but doesn't want to turn. (just used fingers)
4. Also loosened the black screw that holds the feeder on the motor. And the Motor still won't turn.
Should I be able to manually turn the motor, while the Printer is turned off? Should I try to turn it with pliers, or could that damage it? Every else works fine, just the motor won't turn.
Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Extruder Motor Stopped
Well, I was able to use a pair a pliers, and manually turn the Motor. (Couldn't with my fingers) I double checked that it wasn't catching on anything, and even unscrewed the grip on the Motor. (not sure what the part is called, that grips the filament as it load it) After this it worked fine for a bit, but did it again. Same issue, motor won't turn, took a pair of pliers and turned a bit, now works.
Could it be something getting caught in the motor?? (Debris)
Should I grease the motor?
Any suggestions?
Re: Extruder Motor Stopped
Hello,
I have been having similar issues with my printer. From what I gather, your first course of action should be to connect the wires from either your x,y, or z axes motors to your extruder motor to determine if the problems is with your connection or the motor itself. When you manually move your extruder, be sure the hotend is hot enough to melt the material to avoid damaging your extruder.
Best of luck,
