Any idea why prints are turning out like this?

I'm trying to calibrate my printer. This is a 3 layer square. As you can see in the bottom left hand corner final layer, there are some random sections where the nozzle appears to have gotten closer to the print.

If this was a bed leveling issued, I'd expect to see it steadily get worse as it approached the corner, but this appears to be almost random. Any idea how to correct for this and get a smooth print?

Layer 1 alone is more informative.

But it looks like a layer 1 issue. Or could be bed contamination. Or a bad spool of filament.

ps: and please use the forum's LINK TO MEDIA FILE option so folks don't have to manually play with URL's to see your images.

Thanks Tim!

Here are two more images of just the first layer:

Weirdly, the first layer looks like the rows are getting crammed together in the opposite corner (upper left).

Can't see the images ...

ps: and please use the forum's option so folks don't have to manually play with URL's to see your images.  This is a simple DRAG, DROP, change the LINK TO from NONE to MEDIA FILE, then click INSERT

Here's what a fair first layer should look like: each extrusion pass is welded to the last pass. No strings, no gaps between. And it pulls off the bed as a sheet, like masking tape off glass.  This is a PLA layer 1 test print, and there are a couple small fine gaps visible, but it's pretty close to good..

Tim--apologies for media. I've included the photos here per your instructions. I don't think I've ever had a first layer turn out that nicely and am wondering what settings I should tinker with to improve it so there are no strings/gaps:

No worries about the images - just my frustration getting the better of me after manipulating the hundredth URL for the day.  Prusa needs to fix the default mode for posts.  It'd save some of us hours.

The only tricks to making layer 1 work well is

1) a clean print surface (any oils or fingerprints will destroy your efforts);
2) adjust Live-Z methodically while printing a large surface so you can see changes as you adjust.

So on the part you are printing, start the print, then open the Live-Z menu, and adjust it -0.025 at a time - wait for a few passes to see how much it's changed, make another -0.025 adjustment; repeat until you see a nice solid layer.

Something that helps me and others, we use a gcode that waits for the PINDA to reach 35c or 40c before running a print.  This helps run to run consistency. It adds a couple of minutes to a print, but the improvement is worth the wait.  It's added in Printer-Custom Gcode

M860 S35 ; wait until PINDA is >= 35C
G80 N7 R5; mesh bed leveling (7x7)

That code will not work on the MK2/S PINDA 1 does not have a built in thermistor.

Daniel,

Have you looked at what Bobstro has for fine tuning?  It is a culmination of Tim's and Bob's work on tuning.  This may help.  Some good bed cleaning, Testing Z adjust and setting Z height correctly and making sure your filament is DRY.  Especially PET(G), Nylon etc.

Here is Bob's link for GCODE customization when using Prusa Slicer: http://projects.ttlexceeded.com/3dprinting_slic3r_gcode.html

There is a menu at the left for tips on cleaning the bed, bed leveling (use 7 x 7), etc.  And there is a really nice test suite.  Maybe try some of those things and let us know how they worked.  Bob likes to make sure his stuff is updated and accurate.
