Changing nozzle (print) fan to 40mm Noctua

Hi all,

My radial fan is starting to make more and more noise, probably the bearings that are shot.

So looking for an alternative and i would like to use a 40x10 mm Noctua fan instead to make it more quiter overall. Have tried searching on a few places but the only thing that comes close is the following:

Only I am doubting if the airflow in this design is optimal. Have tried to redesign it myself by trying to get the 'funnel' more tilted so it blows directly in the shroud but with my limited skills I am unable to do this correctly.

Does anyone of you have an idea if the airflow is sufficiend or have a better design that i can print?

Many thanks!

You need to keep in mind that an axial fan, like the Noctua 40mm fan for the heatbreak is designed to move ‚lots‘ of air with very little pressure difference, while a radial fan provides higher pressure at lower airflow.

In other words, I would not change the radial fan for an acial one for filament cooling.

Thank you for your response!

In that case do you know of any radial fans that are not as loud as the originals?
