What material to use for printing a replacement part?

The extruder idler cracked on my 2.5 & I've got the .stl file downloaded. A friend will print a new now for me but I don't know what material to use (is PLA OK?) or if there are any specific settings. Any guidance?????    Jack

Best Answer by jsw:

For extruder parts I would definitely go with ABS or something else higher temp than PLA.

When I printed the remixed fan shroud, I used PC Blend, since the original (ABS I assume) had started to droop.

I also have ABS spares of the extruder parts in my 'crash kit' in the event I have a meltdown or something.

"Crash Kit" - Never thought of that. As part of getting mine up & running again, I'll make me one of those. Txc
