RE: How to better slice this file?

Hogwarts with 0.4mm nozzle with 0.1 mm layers; only major setting is XY Comp is set to 0.2 mm.  The model really demands a 0.25 mm nozzle.  But fair warning for rather flat sections where solid infill layers tend to curl with insufficient vertical infill.  Rectilinear infill at 20% & 0.55 mm width, and infill slowed to 100 mm/s and solid infill at 80 mm/s is recommended.  I also turn the print fan down to minimum.

Tim, sorry for my delay, but thank you for sharing! This is beautiful and gives me hope. 😉 Did you increase the size to 200%, or 150? It looks larger than I recall the original being at default.

RE: How to better slice this file?

Hi Laurel,

I increased scale to 210% ... but memory is fuzzy at this point :~)   Also, and most important, was the XY compensation to 0.2 mm.  And keep infill at least 20%... I tried 7% (fail) and at 15% wasn't happy with the hand-holding the print needed. Gyroid seems best, and I kept the bed temp at 70c.  Also, I had to manage the print fan, keeping it almost off until the print was above the castle ground level (curls were snatching at the nozzle).

One note: details that got lost are windows in some of the buildings vanished with the XY comp; not sure why, it really shouldn't affect features like that.

I went pearl white to change the scene into a snowscape ... plan to paint the walls with a wash of some darker off-brick color, and the water with a sheen of ice blue.
