Slic3r settings for the MK2.5

So with the MK2.5 upgrades starting to ship out, I started considering printer settings etc for when it arrives.

I can not see any specific settings for the MK2.5 yet in https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r-settings , will it be added, or should we use the settings for MK2s or MK3 instead?

I don't think you need settings, nothing much would change. except the bondtech gears but any settings would be in firmware for that.

Re: Slic3r settings for the MK2.5

I am noticing that I have to tune my system again after the 2.5 upgrade as my test print looks bad compared to how it was previously. I only had time for extruder calibration, but I had to dial it way back from 168.3 to 140.7 steps. Never would of guessed that would be such a difference. Next up will be retraction, temperature and speeds, hopefully that will get it dialed in soon. I'll share my settings after I'm content so we can all start to compare notes.

Does anyone know if LA is disabled on this latest firmware?

Hi,
With the MK2.5, use the MK2 presets in Slic3r PE / PrusaControl. Do not use the presets for the MK3!

because you have steps set in your profile. under normal cases where you use the printer out of the box, you use the firmware steps (which are dead on for me...) and if the firmware steps changed due to the bondtech which they would due to gear diameter difference then yeah, your own will be off. for anyone else like me, it wouldn't change. unless the steps aren't set to under-extrude anymore like the mk2s. i would be annoyed and just re-compile the firmware.

I feel like the fan settings are going to need tweaking with the new fan nozzle piece. I tried printing the Adalinda PLA gcode after getting my upgrade finished, and had immediate thermal runaway issues as soon as the fan came on. Haven't done much more experimenting there though.

Re: Slic3r settings for the MK2.5

Quick question, but how do I reset the presets in Slic3r to use what's in the latest installer for the 2.5 upgrade? I see the new profile/settings in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D\Slic3r settings MK2 214\, but where do I need to copy those over to get them to be used? I've tried quick Google searches and haven't come up with any good answers there. Hoping someone here has done this recently and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!
Brian

Re: Slic3r settings for the MK2.5

For anyone else that might come across this. When installing the Prusa upgrade application, it will install Slic3r with all new profiles for the filament, printer, etc. Your original profiles should still exist, they're just not referenced from the new version of the program. Look in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D folder and you'll see the new "Slic3r settings MK2 214" folder, which contains everything the new Slic3r program is using. But there should also be a stand-alone "Slic3r" folder that has the original files for the profiles in the previous version. You can either just copy them into the new folder, or open them in a text editor to see the values that you can move to a new profile.
