PTE printing problem

I have a 2.5 upgrade with latest firmware and software (Slicer PE, Prusa Control). Have had no problem printing PLA but just had the need to print PET. Printed an object with PLA with no problem. Tried printing same STL file in PET. The print starts and then after a few layers it stops, says to eject filament, and after doing so I reload the same filament and the print starts again. After a few more layers it does the same thing. It is acting like I had saved it using Prusa Control and had put in filament change stops. I am using the latest Slicer PE. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Is it a glitch in the last firmware or software update? Note I do select PET in the software and using the Prusa 2.5 selection. Have tried it with using the 2S selection in the slicer. I have thought of doing a work around by slicing set as PLA and then manually adjusting the temp to 230/85 after the print starts. It might work but is just a work around. ❓

Re: PTE printing problem

It's probably your filament runout sensor triggering. Some people have had problems with glossier filaments. Disable it in the settings and you should be good to go.

Re: PTE printing problem

The thought had crossed my mind. The last time I printed with PET was when I printed the 2.5 upgrade parts BEFORE I did the upgrade. The PET from PRUSA was also glossy and I had blown off the idea that it was the problem and now I realize I printed it BEFORE I did the upgrade with the filament sensor. I wonder if PRUSA is working on a fix. I may come back for help if I can not find the way to disable the sensor or continue to have the problem. Sounds simple.
Thanks.

Disabled autoload and printed with the PET with no problem. Prusa should put out a note that tells of the problem and the temporary fix until a more permanent fix can be worked out. I did note also that the PETG leaves a residue on the bed that does not easily come off, almost like dried paint on wood.

Re: PTE printing problem

The issue with the filament sensor doesn't happen with all printers. Not sure how widespread it is, but I've never had a problem with false triggers. I print almost everything in PETG (opaque, translucent, and clear). I think there's a guide for cleaning the filament sensor if you look around, that may solve your problem.
