PSU cable fried
Good day dear Prusa community,
I started my morning by trying to print some more Parts for my garden when suddenly it started smelling weird and a bit smoe came out from my Prusa MK2.5S - cutting long story short, it seems like one of the connections from PSU has fried the cable and molex connector including the pug on the board at partially.
Question now is, can the plugs on the board be replaced or do I need a new board which is obviously one of the more expensive part for the printer? 🙂
Pictures attached 😎
Kind regards Carsten
RE: PSU cable fried
The plugs and sockets can be replaced.
you are best replace both plugs and sockets at the same time.
Some folk use XT60 connectors soldered directly to the PCB in preference

HI @JoanTabb - thank you very much for your response, so for the cable connectors that is an easy going I think and a good hint for the XT60 - I was looking at EC3 or EC5 connerctors.
I assume the sockets on the board need to be bought somewhere else, any idea which were used - I am not so into board connectors to be honest 😀
Kind regards
Carsten
RE: PSU cable fried
I guess that depends upon where you live!
I think this is the connector you are looking for

RE: PSU cable fried
Hi Joan, great thanks I will have a look where to get them 👍
RE:
@chuels6969, I would not bother with the Molex connectors. Get 5mm screw terminals or the x60. Those Molex failed because it is the WRONG part for the job, horribly bad design.
Mine burnt out 3 times (fixed one end with terminals, and then the other end burnt out, grrrr, VERY dangerous). I am so done with it, I am upgrading the mainboard to the newer MK3. See my post here:
