Prusa i3 MK2s full extruder replacement

Hi everyone! This is the first time I've had to post something on this forum because I'm really stuck with what to do with my printer. After fixing a minor leak on my extruder, the heat transfer on the extruder was messed up, so I had to take it apart multiple times to try and fix the problem. However, in the process of doing this, I basically totaled my extruder and there are multiple parts that no longer work on it. Some of the plastic parts are melted, one of the power cables going to the heat block cracked off, and the cooling fan fell off. I have been looking around for extruder replacements that I can order, but I just want to make sure that whatever I'm buying will be compatible with my printer. I found a link to one on AliExpress.com, and the parts look a little bit different that the original ones. Like I said, I would just like some help with finding out if it's worth the money or if I should try looking somewhere else. I appreciate any help that I can get at this point!

Here is the link that I was talking about:

Hey Matt,

Did anyone ever get back to you, or did you find a replacement.

I am having a similar issue where I need to replace my hotend, but ...

Cannot find a replacement hotend link on the Prusa site...???

What did you come up with , Thanks

Re: Prusa i3 MK2s full extruder replacement

Thanks for the reply, I haven't touched my printer in about a month because I don't want to order the wrong part. I have seen the link before that you posted but there are a lot of extra items you can add on and I'm not sure if I should buy with it, such as the Embedded Bowden Collet. If you have already bought your piece could you answer these questions for me?

1.) Does it come with the new wires that attach to the heatblock or would I have to order those separately?
2.) Does this heatsink/heatblock properly fit into the extruder housing?

My major concerns with buying from this website is that it won't fit or won't fix the problem I have. Any feedback would be great, and it is much appreciated!

Re: Prusa i3 MK2s full extruder replacement

I have spent a considerable amount of time replacing the hotend of the extruder. I did not buy an entire new E3D, but instead have borrowed it from a very inexpensive printer that I had laying around (Anet A8). It took some wire splicing and plenty of soldering, but I did get it to work eventually. I thought all was well until I ran into a problem that I was having before, which is "THERMAL RUNAWAY". From what I have found, this basically just means that the heat transfer within the extruder is not working how it's supposed to, causing the rate of heating to be painfully slow or completely nonfunctional. I have looked on other forums but haven't found too much on this issue. I'll be sure to update if I find any solutions.
