Printer printing wrong g code file

After many years of faithfully following my instructions my Prusa 2.5S is suddenly being rebellious. I designed a part this morning, sliced it with PrusaSlicer, and loaded it on my SD card. The printer recognizes the SD card, and my new g code appears at the top of the list of files. When I select this file to print, the printer starts printing a different file, one in the third place on the list.

I have saved the file again over the original file. I have done that again after deleting several files from the SD card. I have tried several times to start this print, once even having the printer start the second file on the list.

I am currently printing it from a new, otherwise blank, SD card, and that seems hopeful, but I wonder if there is a simpler fix.

Same here. I'm sure I selected the top file, but once printing, the file that is being printed is a different one.

The file I wanted to print was already on the SD card, but overwritten with a newer one.

Prusa MK3.5S with latest firmware.

I am also finding the same problem as well. In the last few weeks this started occurring for 90% of the prints it is reading the third file on the SD card, not the first. I have an MK3S but I wonder if updating the PrusaSlicer to 2.8.1 on a Mac may have coincided with this bug?

RE: Printer printing wrong g code file

I am having a similar problem with my MK3S+. I'm using an old version of PrusaSlicer (2.5.2). When I do iterative design of small parts, I often have multiple similar filenames loaded on the SD card. What I'm finding is if the filename is too similar, the printer just prints the oldest one. So e.g. in this example, it will print "spacer xXX.gcode" if I select the other file, or the "2m" version of the other if I select the 1m one. I think I did a firmware update at some point in the last couple months, and I definitely never had this issue before.
