Ooops... Might have fried my Rambo electronics
So I did a really stupid thing and think, in the process, I fried the Rambo unit on my MK2.5 last night. I had been plugging wires in (fan and extruder related) and unplugged the LCD control cable to access some of the pins. then I had forgot to plug the cable back in and didn't turn off the power before plugging it in. Now when I turn on the printer, theres nothing on the display. well, just black lines show up. it lights up though. I assume that its not working because even if it was just the LCD, I can not connect to it with octoprint... so questions are:
is it fried?
Are there ways I can test it or the other components (LCD)?
And so if it is fried, would it be a lot of work to upgrade to the einsy and 24v power? I guess I'd also need new fans? are the steppers the same voltage on both?
Any help you can provide is HUGELY appreciated. I await your responses with held breathe! 😉

Are you absolutely sure you have the LCD Cables on cable 1 to socket 1 cable socket 2 and both the right way round!
it could be your rambo, or your LCD
try running the printer from pronterface or octoprint if you have it...
if it's majorly fried it won't work from these alternative tools.
if updating to einsy, you will need einsy, probably einsy case, mk3 LCD, 24volt extruder heater, 5volt noctua fan with tacho, 5volt part fan with tacho, 24 volt PSU with plastic covers and power panic board, 24 volt heatbed (or run two power supplies and use 12 volt heatbed)
you have the pinda 2 and filament sensor on the mk2.5 kit..... Motors... sorry dont know. if same or different.
you may have to modify X and Y axis sizes in firmware because the Mk3 frame is a marginally different size

Since I only unplugged one of the ribbons from the LCD, I'm sure even I couldn't mess up reconnecting it... so Yes, I'm POSITIVE.
I tried to connect via octoprint with no luck... Sounds like it might be a dead RAMBo... :/
Yeah, I realised there was more stuff involved with the 24v system... so if I did kill RAMBo, I'll just keep my happy little system... Ugh. still, that's another 100+$ for a dumb mistake that I shouldn't have made...

I haven't tried reflashing. If it's not showing up for octoprint + nothing is being displayed on the LCD I think it's dead. I can plug it in and see if the FW flasher will see it... Worth a shot, I s'pose... But I'm dubious it'll work...

failed flashing. I can't take a look at the log, though, for some reason... I'm gonna save myself headache by just replacing it. If I figure out how to restore it later, I'm on my way to a whole 2nd printer. :p

w00t!!
So for the heck of it, I turned off the printer, removed the one ribbon I had previously removed, plugged it back in and was able to reflash the RAMBo!!
IT LIVES!!
now to cancel the new one off my order I placed earlier today. I did order the MMU upgrade, however... since that's gonna take a while, I'll still leave that on the order!
So happy I tried one more time!!

It seams the plug on the ribbon probably wasn't seated right. The LCD works fine now and I've already done a PID calibration and a self test. Having issues with the front fan, but that's the wires and not the board... I'll be printing before the night's through!
