Mk2 heatbed cover replacement options?

Hi everyone, it's my first time posting here.

I picked up a 2nd hand Prusa i3 Mk2 (I'm told it was upgraded to Mk2.5s) and the heatbed PEI cover is gouged in a few places. The replacement PEI adhesive sheet is pretty expensive directly from Prusa. Are there any other recommendations for alternatives? I've been printing fine so far as long as I avoid the damaged sections.

Thanks!

OK, so according to the upgrade instructions here, I only have a MK2s, and not the 2.5s.

I'll probably just pay for the parts to do the full upgrade to 2.5s (3s) which should solve my problem long-term.

That sheet is worn out.  What is the other side like?

Replacing the sticker is ... tricky so buying a replacement sheet is probably the best idea, by all means get the stickers as a project for another day when you have plenty of time.

With good maintenance and a little luck your printer should be ok for enough years to wear out another print sheet.

Cheerio,

Other side?  There is only one side with the adhesive sheet.  The replacement adhesive sheet is only about 8 GBP, but the Prusa shipping to the UK costs more than the adhesive sheet.

This heatbed is the original non-magnetic one.  I'm seriously considering buying a load of magnets to glue to the underside of the heatbed, then switch to a magnetic steel dual-sided plate to print on.  Definitely the cheapest option.
