MK2.5 extuder problem
Hi there
I hope someone can help me I have a Prusa I3 MK2 that I upgraded to 2S then 2.5 back in 2018
The machine has worked fine until yesterday when the Extruder started to oscillate a step forward and then back a step. I took out the filament and released the pressure on the extruder motor so it was running free. Still had the oscillating. So I swapped the wiring on the main board so that the Extruder motor was plugged into the X socket on the main board. And the motor turns OK when advancing the X axis. I then plugged the X motor into the Extruder socket on the main board and used the extruder advance in the screen and the motor turned OK. I then swapped back the wiring to the original sockets and the Extruder started to oscillate again. Can some one help please.
Thanks in advance
Bob

Can you get a video of it? I'm not sure if you're talking the extruder or the print head. I'm not sure how an extruder can oscillate.

Thanks

RE: MK2.5 extuder problem
Thank you for the video, I now understand. So, to summerize, the extruder works fine when plugged into the X-Axis driver and the X-Axis motor works fine when plugged into the extruder driver.
This is a puzzler. The only thing I can think of, and this may be dead wrong, but it's the only thing I can is maybe the VREF on the extruder driver is a little too low. It's high enough for the X-Axis servo but no longer high enough for the Extruder servo. I've never adjusted VREF on a Prusa so I'm not going to try and advise other than suggest you take this up with Prusa support.
Cheers
