Layer shift in all prints

No matter what I try, I get a layer shift.  I hear a slight grind sound suddenly and then it shifts slightly, ruining the print. Here's the latest:

Now, I've been printing fine, and tech support had me recalibrate and that did nothing.

Did you try to regrease your rods?

Which rods?  Also, I was able to reconfigure and older prints that I have made into gcode seem to work, but when I run things through slicer I get offset issues.

I hear a slight grind sound suddenly and then it shifts slightly, ruining the print.

Turn off the printer and try to move all axis to reproduce this grind sound. This way you can find which bearing is causing it. All axis need to move freely. If it gets stuck somewhere, it might cause issues described during the print.

That's great, but doesn't explain how when I do things like bed level tests, or printing older gcode, things work exactly as planned.

It's hard to tell without detailed inspection of the machine and your gcode used. It can be speed, jerk, object, position... related. At the end it doesn't really matter. As you already hear something is wrong with mechanics, it's a good sign. The first step is to find a root cause and fix it.

I'm not hearing something wrong on most prints.  It's literally a one-shot thing then it goes along normally.

I can see the issue....there's literally a blob of extra filament there that hits the head.  What do I do to stop this?

Either your first layer is too low (material is building up) or you have over extrusion in general. Try to raise the nozzle (Live-Z) first and check the results.
