3.8.1 upgrade bricks my printer

I upgraded my MK2S to 2.5 in 2017 & used it occasionally since then without issues. I just updated PrusaSlicer to the 2.3 release but the slicer program says it's version  2.2.0+. Is that right? I used this version of PrusaSlicer to push the prusa3d_fw-MK25S_3_8_1_2869_RAMBo13a_en_it.hex to my printer & the flash appeared to work fine. My PrusaSlicer program shows it's creating gcode files for an i3 MK2.5S and the printer says it's a 2.5S too. When I try to print a job, it goes into an infinite loop of unloading/loading filament. How can I fix this?  Tx [email protected]

You may have the wrong firmware,
the Mk2.5 has a Laser filament sensor, the Mk2.5S has an infra red filament sensor,  the picture below shows my Mk3S with the Infrared Filament sensor ( the Mk2.5S uses the same extruder and sensor...)

if you have the correct firmware loaded,
initially, turn off the filament sensor.
see it this improves matters!
then try printing one or two of the Mk3 filament sensor spacers that are available on Thingiverse,  these raise the sensor a tiny bit, which helps many people.

there is a filament sensor indicator window  on the LCD, this will show you the filament sensor status. but I prefer to have an LED indicator
As shown on the picture above. (NOTE! this is a 5volt LED with integrated load resistor!) this gives immediate inication of the filament sensor status, all of the time!

If raising the filament sensor does not improve matters, try wiggling it from side to side, both with the spacer and without the spacer.

@joanta    Thanks so much for the quick response. I guess I need to use my printer more often! Since the filament sensor is one of the differences between the 2.5 and the 2.5S, I realized that could be my problem. I reflashed the printer as a 2.5 and resliced my job for a 2.5 and guess what - it worked. I feel pretty silly but thanks again for your insights.    Jack
