New to Prusa MK2.5s

Hello
Recently bought a used MK2.5s with bear frame, and I wondering witch are the best early on upgrades and if it’s a possibility to add Wi-Fi with Prusa link or something simile. I don’t have any experience, any help would be fantastic.

Octoprint is probably your best upgrade

- MK2.5 here too. Far from perfect, so the happy thing is, you can learn a lot (without paying to much). By the time you have the MK2.5 do what you want, you are able to run any Prusa (I think 😉
- Upgrades I did:
1. Raspberry with OctoPi (but any old PC/laptop will do fine). Install octoprint (as Joan advices). Connect to printer with USB
The Rasp/Pc/Laptop should have network/wifi, then you are able to run the machine from any place on your network.
Connect webcams to it, so you see what's happening)
2. Hue powerplugs (2x). One to start the rasp/PC/laptop + light + heater etcetera
One for the printer. when there is a big error, simply shut off power and start again.
3. Enclosure (old Ikea box with glass door) + heater for the winter times.
4. Box with tools. + some spare parts.
5. Replace a broken part of the extruder; heatbed mounted on springs; and exchanged some bearings.

All can be done by anybody, with some patience, searching this forum, and costs are not that big.

We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.

Thanks for your answer. I was thinking to get the raspberry pi zero 2 w, was also loking att BTT Pi 1.2 to run octoprint. The Hue power plugs are a great ide.

What can I do if I want to print high temp filament in terms of hotend, is it worth to upgrade the extruder? what can I upgrade the extruder to?

I have a Phaetus  dragon on one of my Mk3's. it has a Brass Heater Block Which I Believe is better than an aluminium Heat Block for High Temperature filaments and nozzle replacement is simpler
i believe  the thermistor needs replacing, for high temperature filaments
remember that the Mk2.5 is a 12 volt printer with a Rambo Mini, not an Einsy.   the Rambo mini does not have a connector for a Pi Zero  so a stand alone Pi would probably be a better idea...

Completely agree 🙂
The newest octopi has better options for running webcams on the same raspberry (I run two webcams together with the printer. Sometimes the image is a bit slow, but no effect on the printer, enough bufferroom there).

Is the BTT pi 1,2 a good alternative to a normal pi. What version is cheap but good enough for a pi?

Mine is a PI 3, with simple cheap touchscreen (touchscreen is not much, so only used if I want to control octoprint at the printer, not having a laptop at hand).
NB NB: Be sure to have the correct power plug. To low voltage gives issues.

Webpage for octoprint/octopi with new camera stack, go from there.
