The Y-Belt tensionar looks awesome! too bad it doesn't hit the endstop on the mk2s/2.5.

Is there a remix that does?

Yes..
I remixed myself, works fine 😎

Much appreciated, I'll give it a try tomorrow!

Is there a reason you would need it to? I thought the thinking from Prusa was that if you have a working, tensioned Y belt you dont need to switch to the new design.

Until I took it apart and tried to assamble it, I would have agreed with you.

As far as serviceability goes, I prefer a variable tension Y assembly.

I was thinking about printing off my own copy of the new Prusa y-axis tensioner for when I apply my MK3s extruder mod since I also plan on doing a full tear-down to re-grease my bearings and apply some other mods that I've downloaded and printed (more rigid feet, y-axis bearing clamps, wire bundle clamp for cable management under the printer, etc). But I decided to go with one of the tensioners that replaces the front y-axis idler mount (for my MK3 I decided on this one, not sure what would be appropriate for the MK2). While the tension adjust is still really low on the printer, it moves the adjust to right under the front of the printer, instead of buried under the middle of the printer.

The approach is solid.

I've had an even better mod on my Wanhao i3, with a wing nut on the very front of the printer, had to drill the frame though.

Can we get the STL files for the "Original Prusa i3 MMU2 MMU2S upgrade" rather than just the G-Code?

My printer is a bit picky when it comes to PETG settings and the G-Code just won't print.

The extruder side parts are posted here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MK3S/Printed-Parts/STL

  • ir-sensor-cover-mmu2s.stl
  • ir-sensor-holder-mmu2s.stl
  • I'm not sure if there are any parts necessary other than these.

What am I doing wrong? All of my printed part have smaller openings on the interior. For example the X axis extruder holder, The belt slot is too small to insert the belt, All screw holes are too small, hex head nut recess are too small, square nut slot are too small and so on. ?? Help

How much smaller? Did you accidentally scale the model in slic3r? Is your extrusion multiplier for the filament you are using too large?

    Hi Jay,
are you printing our G-codes or yours? Using Slic3r PE with stock profiles, or your custom? I've printed several sets and had almost no issues, only extruder-idler needs sometimes a bit of drilling.

I have not tried the G-codes, I used Slicer3r PE with the stock profiles for Pet and I tried using simplify3d on both of my machines a mk2s and the mk3. The holes for the screw are 2.49 to 2.66 and the holes for the nuts are 4.88 to 5.11. The placement of the hole all line up with each other. On the parts that have tie wraps the tie raps all fit just right.

Try running the "Configuration Assistant" again to ensure you have the stock profiles. If the problem persists, please send the G-code to [email protected] 😉

I got issues with the parts extruder-idler which broke off when installing lucky I could glue it and print a new one lateron...

The other one is the extruder body where I turned the screw on to hard why the round part broke but also lucky it still holds... I now printed these on 30 % fill because 20 % is to weak.

Waiting on my my MMU2 now 😉

    About color

    "WHAT COLOUR TO USE?
Previous extruder version B7/R3 had to be always black. This new version isn't that strict on the colour choice, however, we recommend using black again to avoid any issues. The FS-lever part should be definitely dark (black) and the other parts surrounding the IR-Sensor as well. In case you use any lighter colour for the FS-lever it might not trigger the sensor."

I am going to print the parts in colors.

Anyone knows what the specific parts surrounding the IR -sensor are ?

    Thanks in advance

Ok, I give up. I just read *everything* from the shop pages to the assembly manual, the original announcement blog post and random forum pages that finally led to this thread.

AND I STILL DON'T KNOW WHICH PARTS TO PRINT 🙂
Currently i'm beyond frustrated and well into satire/april fools joke humour territory.
I don't understand how it is possible to write so many things in so many different places and NOT have a simple link:

Click here to download the STL/GCODE that you need to print to have all parts that are not included anyway in your MK3MMU2 -> MK3sMMU2s package.

PLEASE please pretty please. Just tell me.
    I give up.
    I surrender.
Just tell me : what do I need to print. and what will be in the package .

    please.

    thanks.

Erm... did you completely miss this page?
    https://www.prusa3d.com/prusa-i3-printable-parts/

I'd say it's pretty simple depending which kit you buy - self printed = you need to print everything except the ABS fan shroud. Pre printed you get all plastic parts.

    1) yes, for quite a bit of time I did miss that page, because it is not prominently linked anywhere.
    2) The file you download from there, and all comments about the package state that "some parts are included from the factory" WITHOUT saying which.

I ended up printing all and had 4 parts leftover which I would not have had to print.
Because there is NO information anywhere which parts come in the package.

    Re: New printed parts C1/R4 - MK3S/MK2.5S/MMU2S

Today I installed the upgrade kit, from MK3 to MK3S. Huge disappointment !!!

I purchased this upgrade primarily because it was meant to be more reliable with FLEX filament so, as soon as the calibration process was successfully completed using PLA, I loaded a roll of Sunlu (tolerance: 0.02mm) to give it a try.

The filament got jammed straight away and it took me more than 10 minutes to recover it from the print head. It had been pulled towards to other side of the idler door.

The second attempt was a failure, too. This time, I manually guided the filament in the PTFE tube, to ensure it goes into the right place, then closed the idler door. Some flex came out of the hotend but that was it. No matter how much filament the gear pulled into the print head, nothing came out. The hotend temp was set at 240C.

I then decided to unload the filament. Some of the filament came out but not all. I pulled to retrieve the rest but it got stuck. I opened the idler door and I couldn't see any filament. At that point, I decided to ask for help and got online, for the Prusa Online Chat support. The technician was kind and tried to be helpful, but the only advice he could give me was to remove the motor and the extruder, to gain access to the jammed filament.

The original MK3 printhead design allowed for access to the filament from both sides of the print head, as well as from the top. With FLEX, it would mostly work well and, if it didn't, I could easily remove the filament and retry.

Today, I wasted my time but, more importantly, I realised that the only way to fix a jam with the new MK3S design is to disassemble the printhead, which is definitely -not- how I want to spend my time.

UPDATE: I found what happened and it looks like a design issue. Look at the photo of Step 30 in the Manual https://d17kynu4zpq5hy.cloudfront.net/igi/prusa3d/lOY4CvMgSCGZSCv1.huge . There’s a gap between the Bondtech and the back plate of the print-head (behind the pink arrow pointing to the left).

Through this gap, the FLEX filament found its way behind the Bondtech, while it remained partly inserted into the PTFE tube, which means that it was hidden behind the Bondtech and couldn’t be reached and removed.

As previously mentioned, this was supposed to be a more reliable design for FLEX, but it isn’t. I could print FLEX with the original printhead and I could easily remove the filament when it got jammed; now it simply doesn’t work and I have lots of pieces I need to print in FLEX.

PRUSA RESEARCH, pls find a solution.

    Hi,

Are the Rambo parts really needed?
No sure if I want to spend 8 hours of print time for some cosmetic changes or just to use the new cable sleeves.

    I'm upgrading my mk2s to mk25s.

    Thanks.
    Cheers,

After upgrading to MK2.5S, I was having consistent hotend thermal runaway issues. Even after turning my fan speeds down significantly (which negatively impacted my overhangs and bridges), I'd get a runaway on some print geometries that apparently blew too much air back up at the heaterblock. After fighting with this for a week or so, I tried putting a silicone sock on and all my problems went away. If anyone is experiencing a similar issue - apparently this is the fix.
