RE: Prusament Galaxy Black jamming?

It looks like a real issue.  Galaxy Black is no longer sold on the site.  I got about 1/2 the way through the spool and mine is jamming too.

That’s not good as I like the filament and have printed about 5 rolls without issue.

I had to replace my nozzle - permanently jammed.

I had to replace my nozzle - permanently jammed.

Hold the removed nozzle over a heat source (I have used the area just above the blue flame on our gas stove) and the blockage will melt/burn out. Quick brush up and the nozzle is ready to go back into service after a good visual inspection for actual damage.

Could not get a good print with Galaxy Black. I have an genuine E3D V6.

No problems with other brand filaments but this stuff just kills my nozzles.

Prusament Black Jamming and skipping

I did not belive that black was so different to Prusament Orange but now I am sure that the black causes jamming and Skipping.

I cured the skipping by using orange instead of black.

Just wanted to say that I had this problem too.

If is different, but it might not be the cause of your jam.  Increase the temp by 10 and see if you still have jams.

RE: Prusament Galaxy Black jamming?

Hi! Two years passed from the last post. I've just ordered a spool of Galaxy Black. My worst filament ever.

I had jams and clogged heads in the past. I had a lot in the first 1-2 month of learning to print. Thats why I was very surprised when the temp tower failed at the recommended settings. This is my first "brand" filament what was built in settings in PrusaSlic3r (what I use every day). I tried to print a benchy a lot of times with no luck. I was upset. I lowered the temp to 195-200 (215+/-10 is the recommended) and retraction distance was set to zero mm. Failed. I have a Sunlu S2 filament dryer, does not helped at all. I dried the spool for 5 days, 26% moisture is the lowest I ever saw on the dryer. Jammed again.

Tip for the jams: set the noozle temp to 80-85 and pull hard and slow (!) the filament by your hand and its popping out from the noozle in one piece (showing on picture)

RE: Prusament Galaxy Black jamming?

Hurray! Success! I was able to print a Benchy from Galaxy Black filament.

Earlier this week I installed a BMG clone dual gear extruder, which has better grip on filament and because of the 4:1 ratio, it has more torque. Not this helped to print the benchy. When the filament jammed again, the gears inside the extruder was skipping and rattling... almost destroyed the whole extruder. This happend 4-5 times. To be honest, the stock extruder is more safe, you can only destroy the filament by grinding it. In this case the grip is so strong, that the inside of the extruder is weaker.

Than I was suspected that the Noctua fan was not enough to cool the heatsink. I made some flaps from beer cans aluminium body, cut it to size to direct the air to the heatsink, but no luck. The print was done further than before, but also jammed. After that is was searching for some fan duct adapter and found a 60mm fan duct. Almost noone use CR touch, so I had to redesign the duct to myself.

The benchy came out, but if you look good, the top of the cabin window is not really nice. Print time was 1h 18m, 0.20LH, 200C, retraction 2.5mm.

IT WAS THE COOLING! THE COOLING WAS NOT SUFFICENT!

RE: Prusament Galaxy Black jamming?

I was able to ditch this 6cm fan beats and end up buying a Noctua 4020 12V FLX fan, which is more powerful, than the stock 6cm power supply fan.

I've downloaded this modified fan housing https://www.printables.com/model/263861-ender-3-4020-fan-mount

The print came out nice, only the cabin side is shinier, maybe slower print speed could help.
