Never hitting X endstop

I installed the 2.5 kit and no matter what, it never hits the switch. Prusa sent me the X carriage but it seems like it's getting close but not hitting.

Hi Ryan,

what's stopping it?

some folk say the cable routing is critical...

other folk have decided to glue a piece of scrap material on the X axis, to operate the switch...

I haven't done this upgrade yet, so Can't give you first hand advice, except that usually when something doesn't work, it's usually because you have missed something in the process.... have you looked at the on line build manual, ? there are some user comments attached to many steps, which may help you.

I printed the parts exactly as requested. I'm surprised someone else isn't having this issue.....

Mine didn't either. I was very careful with cable routing and got it very close but I ended up gluing a bit of zip tie to the x carriage to help it out.

Hi Colin,
did you work out what was stopping the X carriage moving far enough to reach the endstop?

I got the replacement part from Prusa and stuck it on my vernier caliper, and it's about 1mm wider than the one that I printed, and that my neighbor with a prusa printed. It seems to work now, but I think that a better diagram on how the wires should be routed would be helpful.

Hi Joan,

It appears to be the wire bundle hitting the frame. I have all the wires routed underneath the guide but it's still too tight. It might work if I removed the spiral wrap at that point, but I fixed it with a shim instead.

That's what I was thinking as well, but I didn't want to hack anything. I did check both with the vernier caliper and it appears that the one that Prusa sent has about 1.22 mm on it. I wonder why that would be.

I'm having the same issue. Though I printed the updated extruder head (R2), not the original one. And I can't hit X-stop.
I havent check cable routing but I didn't notice it either.

Now I see there is an R3 Extruder head. Does that fix this issue?

Re: Never hitting X endstop

I had the same issue after upgrading to MK2.5 (R3).
The problem was -> cable routing at the Noctua fan!
The cables hit the carriage and prevented the activation of the endstop.

Same issue here, likely the fan wire routing but for now I attached a small self-adhesive bumper I had to the spot on the extruder body that hits the limit switch and that fixed it for now.

Re: Never hitting X endstop

I had this same problem and it was the wiring from the extruder motor and fan. Mine had popped out. there is a channel behind and to the back of the extruder fan. If you can see the wires to the back of the extruder fan then your x stop point will not get hit. If you have this problem the just pull the fan and make sure the wires are in the channel. look closely you'll see what I am talking about
