Installed MK2.5S Upgrade - Now it fails calibration - I've tried everything to get it to pass

I installed my MK2.5S upgrade, updated the firmware, and now it will not pass XYZ Calibration or Z axis Calibration.

On the XYZ calibration it fails to find the 3rd calibration point on the rear right side.

On the Z-axis Calibration it finds 8 of the 9 points.  On the 9th position, which is the same point as #3 on the XYZ routine, the printer just drives the X axis straight down into the heat bed to the point that it deflects, then fails.

I've searched the forums and have tried all of the suggestions.  I've loosened the X and Y axis belts, checked that the PINDA2 sensor is working correctly, confirmed the PINDA is adjusted correctly, I've reflashed the firmware, all the axis move freely, and the bearings were regreased when I installed the upgrade.

HELP!  I'm so frustrated!   Had I known I was going to have this issue after trying all of the "usual" fixes, I probably would have just built a Bear Tall upgrade with a SKR v1.4 board and saved myself $200.

I've since tried installing older firmware versions and trying those.  It still fails.

I've noticed that while it successfully finds point 2, for point 3 it just goes way off the mark and looks for the point too far back and too far to the right so the PINDA is mostly off the bed for the entire circular search pattern until it fails.

Any other ideas to try?

RE: Installed MK2.5S Upgrade - Now it fails calibration - I've tried everything to get it to pass

I just together my 2.5S upgrade installed as well, and hit the exact same issue. I thought there was something wrong with the PINDA as it seemed to needed to be set too low, or some other issue.  I checked and rechecked wiring, instructions, etc and could not find out what was wrong until yesterday. .

I believe the source was caused by a couple of issues.

1. I found that my frame had shifted while I was adding all the new parts.  It was not obvious, but the rod securing the plate platform to the frame had shifted on one side, and was higher than the other side.  I could not figure out why each side of the Z axis reached the top at different times.  Once I looked around, I found that one side had shifted up.   It should be the case that the top of the frame is parallel to the print plate and measuring each side showed I had an issue.  I loosened the nuts, put the threaded rods fully in the frame slot and re-tightened and things are much better.

2. Once I fixed this, I was able to complete the XYZ calibration and things were good I thought.   However, when I went to print something, it gave an failure on the initial 9 point check, failing at point 8.   I found that if I updated my slicer to the ver 2.2 AND used the new 2.5S printer profile, this went away.   I have not been able to use the MK2S gcode files without getting the calibration error.

Things are good at the moment and the upgrade is nice.  Loving the powder coated sheet and the texture on the prints.  My old plate was in pretty bad state, so this is like getting a brand new printer.

Hope this helps !

@boilermakerfan

You need to go through the xyz calibration process and it will search for where these 4 points are.  It starts out off, but once it completes, it knows exactly where they are and it matches the circles on the plate (at least for me)

I think you may also have to reset the existing calibration data (somewhere in the menu).  Don't know if this is needed, but it's what I did before running the calibration.
