Hairy prints after the upgrade

After I upgraded my printer I started to get a stringing issue. I played with retraction length, retraction speed, moving speed and temperatures. I'm running out of option to try out to get this issue solved. If any of you had any experience with a similar problem let me know.

Other than that, I upgraded to 2.5 then upgraded the firmware. Everything else on the printer is original, including the hot end.

Could I be having alignment issues? Firmware issues? Some how I broke the hot end? 😯

Changing settings seems to help slightly but not a lot.

Use Sic3r default settings. Start printing and watch the extruder motor running thru maintenance window on the left side of extruder. When extruder retacts (motor turning left) does the gear moves in the same time ?

If not, i.e the gear is not fixed well.
