Extruder indicator wheel not turning
I just printed an indicator wheel for the extruder on my Mk2.5. Glued on a 8x3 neo magnet.
The wheel snaps on to the shaft just fine, but it isn’t turning. The printer and stepper motor works fine, and the shaft is turning, but not the indicator wheel.
Any suggestions?

RE: Extruder indicator wheel not turning
It looks in the video as if the boss on the wheel is so thick that it is binding on the extruder causing the wheel not to turn.

I tried also with a smaller boss design with a smaller magnet. Didn’t turn then either. Weird.

odd indeed. does a magnet, on the shaft end, on it's own, turn?

RE: Extruder indicator wheel not turning
Haven’t tried magnet only as I’m a little afraid of how to get it out again. Trying a smaller design with smaller magnet again now, and it seems to be snapping on to the sides of the shaft more than the shaft itself. Tried with both sides of the magnet, and it only snaps to the «outside» of the shaft. Perhaps a part in the extruder motor have been replace sometime? I bought it second hand.

does the magnet snap on to the end plate of the motor itself?
that should be aluminium, and the magnet should not stick well

The magnet doesn’t stick at the motor housing cover with the logo on. But it sticks to the screws and the motor housing behind the cover.
I made an image with markings to visualize.
Green V = Magnetic
Red X = Not magnetic
