How to set change the filament type loaded?

When changing from a high-temp to a low-temp filament, like from PC to PLA, I usually load the new low-temp filament with the previous higher temperature to purge the nozzle with it, then change to the lower temperature.

Now with the XL asking me (and remembering) filament types, how do I do this?
If I unload PC, then loading PLA (but still selecting PC to keep the higher temperature for purging), how can I tell the printer later that I actually loaded PLA without unloading and reloading again?

I found a tool setting that allows me to change the nozzle size, but not the filament type loaded.

When you select "Filament change" in the printer menu, then first the current filament (in your case PC) is unloaded and purged (a little bit appr. 3cm) with the high temperature. Then you are asked for the new filament type and the new filament is loaded and the last remains are purged.

Thanks. I actually missed that menu item. I now tried it that way. Before the new filament is loaded, I get asked which type it is. In my case the temperature started immediately to drop to the new filament temperature. Yes, there may be a little bit of time where the filament is purged with a higher temperature, but that is not kept high for repeated purging. So, not ideal in my case. But thanks for you reply!
