Hardware Mod Remove WiFi

Hi all,

We recently purchased several of the Prusa XL systems and I am looking for a way to physical disable the WiFi. On other systems this can be done by desoldering a part, like a resistor or something.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to accomplish this without bricking the equipment?

That's an interesting idea. So if we take that a bit further maybe just desoldering the SMD connection on the board where the Coaxial cable snaps onto? Or does that not stop the WiFi signal in the same way this cap would?

I'm pretty sure the screw on cap itself would not be acceptable. The "fix" needs to be as non-reversible as possible.

Or a solder blob in the SMD connector if you're worried about damaging nearby parts.

It is NOT a cap, it is a termination resistor to soak up the RF energy the WiFi creates -- painless, and safe. Simply unplugging the cable at the board might be as effective, but even that open connector and traces on the circuit board radiates.   You said non-destructive. A solder blob would be destructive.

It's an uFL antenna connector, the solder blob would short the center transmit pin to the outer ground ring. That shouldn't affect the other mcu functions, but would also damp the transmit signal on the transmit source traces. I understood the desire was 'non-reversible', not 'non-destructive'. This would certainly be destructive.

Folks here so often complain about poor WiFi connectivity, it's a switch to discuss eliminating it for a change.
