Firmware alpha 5.1.0-alpha2

Firmware 5.1.0-alpha2 is out and although I would wait to install a stable version, version 4.7.2 sucks (there's nothing to lose).

When you upgrade you don't lose the settings you had installed.

For now I'm printing 4 little things and the truth is that I notice less noise and less shaking.

It already has Languages !!! (Not 100%)

The speed of sending the file in LAN has improved a lot, but the network is still not 100% configurable from the printer menu.

I just pray that they keep working on updating the software as soon as possible because if not the reviews are going to be very bad compared to the competition.

Has anyone else installed it, what opinions or improvements do you notice?

RE: Firmware alpha 5.1.0-alpha2

Installed it tonight but I only completed the build of my 5H last night. I went straight to the Alpha after running the setup on 4.7.2 and a test print of the Prusa tag. First print was good and fast. Then I went to use tool 2 which passed checks before. It kept crashing and forcing a reboot. I've redone the docking calibration on 5.1 and now will print again. Too early for me to say but the speed is good.

I am still on 4.7.1 and am afraid to update it just yet. All my prints are coming out pretty dang good right now.

I see the main reason for testing 5.x firmware is trying out input shaping and check the increased network speed (compressed gcode).
As far as I have seen videos about IS on the XL, there is now only a profile for the 0.6 nozzle. Will there be profiles for the other nozzle sizes?

For testing the new gcode format, you will also need the latest Prusa Slicer (I think 2.7.x).

There’s profiles for other sizes too in the 2.7 alpha of Prusaslicer. I’m running that just for my XL and still on 2.61 for the Mk3s

RE: Firmware alpha 5.1.0-alpha2

I deployed XL_firmware_5.1.0-alpha2 firmware and ran Selftest just to be sure. I printed in Input Shaper mode with 5 colors, nozzle 0.6, material Prusament and Filamentum PLA and PETG. In PrusaSlicer I used predefined profiles without modification. Stringing has almost disappeared and printing has become significantly faster.

Although this is an alpha version, the firmware seems to be stable. The Pre-print screen function is excellent, I haven't tested other new features yet. I am generating G-Code in PrusaSlicer 2.6.1 and after updating the config the Input Shaper is available for all XLs and nozzles.
