Unless you really just enjoy the tinkering, It's much easier to get one of these. However, if you DIY, you should figure out how much you need to bore out the orifice to leave the right diameter after adding the coating. You might need to do some taper-boring in the throat area to get the right flow-geometry.
I am also thinking of DIY coating a brass nozzle. I am quite sure, that I read/see something about this. But I could not remember where or what the exact solution was. I only found a video which recommends to apply MoS2 grease/oil. This should work to temperature up to 450°C.
Any hints or suggestions?

@burtronix: Thanks for the hint. But this leads to a loss of comfort when changing the nozzle. Either I need an adaptor for each nextruder. The Prusa ObXidian will cost about 60€ and is out of stock at the moment.

I'm planning on getting a bunch of adaptors anyway. I want to have multiple hardened nozzles. Changing nozzles with adaptors can't be any more challenging than changing nozzles on my Mini or MK3S.

I guess so. But there are also non XL orders between. So i shouldn‘t take long until yours is send as you are near the order of toby.k 🙂

Got an email yesterday that my XL 5h semi assembled order was picked up by DHL (Order 16372xxxxx from November 19. 1 am 2021).
Expected delivery is Monday 6.11.2023 - time to finish the MK3S+ to MK3.9 upgrade and make room for the XL build...

Just got an email from DHL to expect the delivery Monday Nov 6 as well (to centeral Ohio).

My 5TH, semi-assembled just shipped today: 16372, ordered 11/1//21 ~19:00 CST (as 2TH), order converted to 5TH and confirmed on 10/23/23. Delivery estimated for 11/7/2023.

I got mine last week, built it over the weekend.
-Had to print a new WIFI tower
-The heat bed screws were not screwed in and were loose, thought I lost one
-One head didn’t have the alignment bolts
-Fans won’t pass test unless I remove the print fan shroud. Chat less than helpful, got the answer here. (It seems we are all BETA testers and they want us to send video for them to train their CS people with.)
Printed the 2 color key chain and it worked. Tried to print a PETG piece with PLA supports- didn’t work. Updated to new firmware. Recalibrate heads and I’m trying speedbenchy now.
Prints one material really well. We’ll see on multi.
