In their defense, they have had a few different configurations of each XL due to supply chain issues.

My XL 2 head semi-assembled prints flawlessly. Minimal to no stringing.
HA ! 😊 😉
This is not a filament issue causing severe stringing ….
It’s a pretty common issue with XL machines from what I’ve seen and it hasnt been determined if it’s a firmware ( hardware ) issue or software ( slicer ) issue
Had my 2 tool unit ( factory assembled ) returned to Prusa ( after 2 months of pure headache ) , as there was not only severe issues with stringing , blobs , blisters , under extrusion , extruder flow issues , loading issues , bed level issues , crossed threaded screws etc …
The MK4 I had gotten with new updated nextruder prints flawless . Now I can take that exact roll from the XL and put the same model on the MK4 and it’ll print perfectly .
To me I believe it’s a combination of extruder setups are not optimized yet on the XL yet , the slicer profiles are no where near optimized correctly for the XL and with the size of the machine it really needs to get input shaping already .
My replacement machine should be here Mon / Tues and I’m really hoping to have a better experience with the new machine . The machine I really can be a beast with the size and features . It’s been 2 years it should’ve been a lot more refined and polished by now .

RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread
As can be seen by my posts, I’m no fan of PRusa at the moment, but at this point in the product cycle, I’d only judge it by using Prusafilament- and probably just PLA. There may be nothing wrong with the filament, but the XL set ups may not be optimized for that particular filament properties. Time, tweaking and profiles will probably help.
Heck, an MK3/MMU2 set up lowers the temp on PETG to the point I get clicking- and how long has that been out?
RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread
CW - that is awesome and very good to hear . Hopefully your adhesion issues were resolved , I’ve only seen your multi colored Benchy sample was world of difference than mine
I am willing to bet that most of the reason for it is definitely time and care during assembly. When you assemble something yourself there’s always a level of quality and. Are you won’t get from a production line ( I honestly wish I would’ve went that route ) I am currently up to almost 2 dozen Prusa machines now , their factory build quality on their assembled units is sliding fast as well as the quality of printed parts hasn’t been the best at all . With the state that my XL assembled unit came ( I’ve made several posts experiences and issues ) and seeing others with their experience majority of the problems seem to come from assembled units .
RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread
my XL 2T also prints flawlessly, I also got the kit. A little bit of stringiness but not more than any of my other printers. First layers are always flawless and it prints the smoothest parts I've ever produced by far, every time
RE:
XL 2T here and print quality for ABS is the best I've ever had from any printer I've ever owned. This part was printed in ABS with no enclosure, no support, and no brim. Prusament box for scale. The only defect is that upper bridge and the slicer even warned me about it. A few seconds with a file was all that was needed to clean it up.
This is an optimal design for ABS - no sharp edges, no infill causing strain - but still I'm impressed.

@guyh what did you order, and what was your order confirmation time? Prusa hasn't update the shipping tables for the XL in several weeks, curious where they are in the queue. Thanks.

I live in Germany. Since UK is not within the EU anymore, sending stuff to UK and vice versa is really complicated and you cannot rely on shipping dates. I tried to send simple stuff for christmas last year and gave up due to custom difficulties.

Yes brexit has made shipments more problematic that's for sure. Although recent filament orders from Prusa have arrived in good time.

PSA: A huge chunk of XL pre-orders will be shipped before the end of the year, Shipping table is coming. More info We have some exciting news for everyone with an XL pre-order! We've finally overcome the supply chain issues and hired almost 100 new people! This means we now have enough components and production capacity so we are processing pre-orders much faster. Info for pre-orders from 2021 We expect to ship the majority of pre-orders (most were made in 2021) by the end of this year. To finish the preparation of the heavily requested shipping table, we are going to switch all remaining pre-orders from 2021 to regular orders so you will be able to complete yours. We’ll send out info via e-mail next week. Once we have your orders confirmed, we'll have enough data to publish the shipping table for the current batch of pre-orders that are being processed. Once you receive the email, you'll have 2 weeks to complete your order. The reason for the deadline is so we can prepare the shipping table. If you complete your order before the deadline, your printer will be placed in the queue based on the date of your original pre-order (you’ll be able to check it in the shipping table). If you decide to complete your order later, your printer will be placed in the shipping queue based on your payment date. You’ll get your printer a little bit later, but still with high priority. You don't have to worry about slipping to the very end of the entire pre-order queue. With this measure, we want to make sure, that customers who had ordered a 1-toolhead printer and then upgraded their order to a different variant won’t skip customers with 2- and 5-toolhead machines. Honestly, we didn't expect that the number of upgraded orders (from single-tool to five-tool) would be so high. I'm sorry about the issues this caused, I believe the new system should be much more fair to everyone. Preorders from 2022 and 2023 And more good news: we will be able to ship all pre-orders created in 2022 by the end of April next year and the rest (2023 so far) by the end of June. We'll keep processing the remaining pre-orders in the same manner - we’ll take a large batch of pre-orders and prepare an up-to-date shipping table. Once we process it, we'll move on to the next batch. We'll provide more details via email and in an upcoming article with news about the planned Input Shaper firmware release, upgrades and more. We apologize for the delays and any inconvenience they have caused! We’re on the right track to process all remaining XL pre-orders and the situation should improve even more in the near future. Thanks for your patience! Stay tuned for more info!
