Toolheads available
Has anyone ordered any additional tool heads? I'm (pleasantly) surprised they're available, I didn't think we'd have them before XL orders were completely caught up (but of course, the limiting factor in building them might not be the tool heads).
I seem to have gotten in early enough that mine are preparing for shipping.
I guess once installed, I will no longer be able to post on this section of the forums for some reason 🤣 (still not sure why there needs to be two different sections when a large % of the concerns would be the same with both types of machine).
RE:
Mine have shipped. I also didn't really expect them to ship before the end of the year, so yeah, nice surprise.
I had ordered the 5 toolhead version way back when but then switched to single when they became available, because—didn't want to wait. I know. Stupid. I wanted the XL for its tool changer capability, not for the print volume, but frankly, once I had the big printer, I found more use for it than I had thought. But now I'm happy to do the upgrade. DHL says Monday delivery.
EDIT: I also just saw that the upgrade instructions are online now. Seems like a bit of work but not too bad. Mostly swapping and installing extruders and some electronics but no real change to the mechanical aspects of the printer.

Finished the upgrade. Was pretty straightforward and uneventful. The hardest part was getting the old dock out because I kept trying the wrong screw... In the end, the only issue (albeit a modestly significant one) was that the side filament sensor 2 was stuck on INS. Prusa Support made me do a full reset and reflash the firmware, which fixed it. First prints came out beautifully.

Nice! I just reached the calibration stage on mine now. I had a similar problem where putting in Dock 1, I kept tightening the wrong screw and wondering why it was still loose (even though I had the right one on 2-5).
After this is done I still can't take the printer back to where it belongs because I had everything set up to do the Sumo enclosure install, and then the toolheads became available...

Hello
I received today the email saying that tools are available with upgrades. I originally bought the dual-head printer and was wondering if I was able to buy the "Original Prusa XL Single-Tool to Dual-Head Upgrade" to upgrade my printer up to 3 tools? Normaly the printer can host 3 tools before changing the hardware. It is 500€ without VAT, instead of 1000€ (2 to 5).

I don't think thats possible, since you would be missing the XL splitterboard and an extra PSU, which are needed for 3 or more toolheads and are included in the 2to5 upgrade kit. You would have to buy them seperately. In addition I don't think that PrusaSlicer even supports anything else than 1,2 or 5 head machines as of now. Maybe in the future.
