RE: Prusa Delays
Ok, for you all, I sent an email to them asking for a status update. Maybe that is all we need to do.

Long-time MMU1 / 2 veteran here. Take it from me, if you need a printer now just buy something else. Better to let them get it finished. If they take too long and company X comes up with a better alternative, well, choice is good. Disclaimer, I‘m on the waiting list and will remain unless the first delivered printers suck hard.

But will you get a MMU3? 😉

At this point I'm more likely to design my own 😜
Let's not open that can of worms in this thread.

Ok,
I got a formal response. I will not post the name of the person who responded, but it was not an automated response.
Dear Charles,
we assure you that Josef will be providing an updates as soon as possible, but we thank you for your patience and understanding.
Best regards / Cordialement,
Name withheld......
I hope this lowers your anxiety level. I suspect it will happen between Monday and 1 December. I have not official connection with Prusa, so please do not shoot the messenger if it does not happen.

that does not make me feel any warmer and fuzzier. That could’ve been said anytime in the past 18 months.

Pre-orders opened less than a year ago (11/18/21)
RE: Prusa Delays
After I was afraid this discussion had reached Reddit level, glad to see a more level-headed post.
The machine will come when it’s ready and can be built.
What more can you say. For some of us this may be too late. Others will be happy to wait. It may affect Prusa's reputation, one way or another. But what would certainly affect it is releasing a product vastly buggier than what you'd expect from a Gen 1 system.
Being the XL and the AFS share a common design baseline I am fairly confidant that Prusa Research will ship a reliable machine. Failure in the B2B space would be devastating.
RE: Prusa Delays
Well, to be blunt, you are gonna have to live with it. You can’t change the past.

RE: Prusa Delays
Finally! As stated by employees at ERRF, early 2023.
RE: Prusa Delays
The additonal delay doesn't seem too bad. Some Interesting information in there. I appreciate the addition of nozzle illumination and I am really really excited for the perfect first layer function. Even if the MK3 is already pretty good (having the normal non-super pinda), I am really looking forward to a much better leveling for sure.
What is still a question for me: My MK3 is struggling with cooling the part fast enough for faster printing (having it at 80mm/s), at some angles of printing the cooling is not good enough (tried different fan updates but nothing really helped that much). I could not yet see, what kind of fan the XL uses. I think it would need to be much better to allow for much faster printing. Did anyone see a more clear picture of the nextruder regarding this fan part? (Or is someone going to Formnext and could provide detailed nextruder pictures 🙂
RE: Prusa Delays
Nice update, way more info/detail than I hoped for. Hopefully that's the final timeline slip.
Not having owned a Prusa before, I'm curious about the WiFi capability and any API it may expose. Also, could we skip things like octoprint for camera?
The ejecting boards gave me a bit of pause. It's nice that they come out, but, flying out as they do seems a little haphazard. Guessing it's a rare thing to change them. Very neat to use PCIe physical interface for those!
RE: Prusa Delays
It is going to be interesting to find out what the 21 Hall sensors are doing.
Hopefully the next update will start with a guide as to order number and anticipated ship dates, like they did with the mini. That gave about a month heads-up on when shipping will probably happen.
The hardware is interesting, but the software and materials are a whole level of added complexity. I hope they give a lead on that so when we get the printers, we can hit the ground running with all 5 nozzles.
RE: Prusa Delays
The update that made me happy was that they're going to support any E3D nozzle, so tungsten carbide is a go.

Agreed, Having one or two heads dedicated to abrasives will be a welcome addition.
Cheerio,
RE: Prusa Delays
that is really good news. I can hardly wait.
RE: Prusa Delays
Plus, it will be a lot less stressful to experiment with new extruders and nozzles if you can just pull it off, run another head, and play with the experimental one offline. Plus, after you jack with the nozzle, it sounds like it will re-zero the Z height. After playing with the mini-REVO on my Mini, I've gotten a lot more comfortable calibrating the print height, but it would be nice to not even think about it.
If one wanted to print 300C+, this should help facilitate it, right?
RE: Prusa Delays
I think I will try to install a revo on one of my XL heads just for giggles.

RE: Prusa Delays
I would love to use my revos on the XL, but the blog post only states the adapter to a V6 Nozzle, not the whole hotend. I wonder if this is even possible with all the sensors?
