RE: Prusa Delays

Everyone is so focused on speed nowadays. Speed depends on twenty thousand different factors. Just wait for the slicer to be released in the next few days and for the units to be delivered (also in the next few days) and you’ll see what people test and which speed and quality they can achieve.

We are there! The baby is finally out and ready to be delivered. All your questions will be answered very very soon. You waited so long and I don’t think waiting a few more days will change anything.

RE: Prusa Delays

I´m in the same situation. You are great  optimist with getting our XL this year. Betatests are not finished yet. Prusa plan to start sending them in may. But we have march now. When XL was announced, plan was several month fore sending them. In fact it was 16 months. So maybe first day multitool orders will be send this year.

I'm a day 3 pre-order, for a multi-tool. It sounds like maybe a Christmas gift for myself? Hopefully over the next ~4-6 weeks we can get clarity on that... if it's that far out, I'm just going to get another X1C instead.

RE: Prusa Delays

So 2nd week preorders like me already get the XLs or XL2.5 or XLplus  in 2026 ? Not that I would mind, I need to find a new apartment and that can take a while.
Not a big fan of the gift idea, 2nd day people waited just as long and get nothing. It'll only piss the vast majority off.
Are the multi-colored parts printed? They don't look terrible I have to say, if you consider they probably print them fast & with 0.2 or 0.3 layer height.

RE: Prusa Delays

That argument can keep going to include any of the first months.  They have to stop somewhere.  You are unhappy that the first-day folks get it.  The third-day folks would be unhappy if the second-day folks get it and so on.

Not unhappy, I don't care at all who gets what. That would be childish. I just think it'll create further backlash, that's all.
A meaningful small gift would have been a shop voucher for all preorders, or roll of filament etc. I'm sure they'll raise the price anyway after all preorders are served, so in a way we'll have a discount, but that's not what people will want to hear  😉

C'mon dude!! Go to Prusa's website and look for the MK3s. Do you see a tab that says, specs? The answer is Yes. Now go to the XL, do you see a tab that says Specs? The answer is No. How is anybody going to be able to make a decision on whether to buy it or not if you  don't have any specs on the machine besides bed size and some other irrelevant or incomplete information? We are talking about $2000, don't you think the customers should have more info on the printer at this point?

RE: Prusa Delays

Most of those points are just theories. Nobody actually knows how the printer is going to perform. Specially how the "Nextruder" is going to perform. We don't even know the max flow rate the whole system can reach, extruder/hotend. An important feature on any 3d printer today is speed and speed without sacrificing strength and quality. The XL looks slow as f...Everything on the X axis looks heavy. Bulky extruder, heavy linear rail ect. So speed is not going to be there. Expect days of printing for a full bed part. Not great in my opinion

RE: Prusa Delays

About this. I'm a first day preorder, but by accident. I live in Cyprus and the email with the blog and announcement updates comes after a week of the actual post. If i hadn't ACCIDENTALY checked their blog on November  18th, i would be a week later at best. I'm not arguing about the gift as such, but to the point that you can not easily define which is the earliest. US is about 7 hours time difference with us Australia is already tomorrow. Yes you set a hardline but you set it on a week and not a day. As is said im first day preorder and i probably get the gift, if or when XL ships (Prusa's promises and timetables dont mean much at this point), but that doesn't mean i don't see the "injustice" with that. Keeping in mind that after a years delay from Prusa a few days difference on the preorders is negligible. Also the cost of this thing can easily handle or cover a free sheet and small adapter as a gift.

I can agree with that.  I am sure it will fit in the giant box.

RE: Prusa Delays

If you want max speed competing with single tool head speeds, a tool changer is the wrong printer for you. That is why the single tool head XL is a bit handicaped because it is designed for tool changing. However the multihead XL will be probably as fast as any tool changing competition or likely faster, when comparing it to single nozzle colour changing printers, even fast ones like the Bambu. Never minding the possibilities a tool changer offers regarding true multimaterial printing.

If a smaller or single nozzle printer can do your job, a large tool changer is not the optimal printer for the job. If you need a very large printer, the Bambu is out of the game to begin with and therefore no competition. If you want to print flexible plus ABS plus soluble support Bambu is not a good choice either and therefore not a strong competition either.

The XL is a niche printer in my opinion, which can tackle most jobs but excels at a rather specific set of print jobs.

RE: Prusa Delays

I'm in the same boat of thought here. I think the decision of the 'what could be included for free' also came down to what can we fit in the box that is low volume for space saving (as the packaging and shipping rates will be set by now) and what items do we already have good cost margins on.
The better option might have been to give store credit or discount on XL accessories for customers to pick at time of checkout.

RE: Prusa Delays

I just realised I am not a day late but a month 🤣

I'll kick back, get some beer and crisps while watching the bug reports and complaints in the forum. So the joke I made about "XL 2.5S plus" might become reality, assuming PR will not go down in flames before. Time between Mini and Mini plus was shorter than the delay I can expect now 😜

I have decided to take the first printer and expand it later.  I will post bug reports as I find them.

Do we know what it looks like to "expand" later? I don't mean cost or anything, just how easy it is? I recall seeing a photo/gif of swapping some daughter board being a piece of cake, but curious how the whole process is (if known). If it's simple enough, I may take that approach as well.

I thought that the XL had a sales page on the Prusa website, but they don’t now?  I don’t see it listed at all.  Maybe easier than having it and then having to explain that you might not get it until next year, this time?

Well, not everyone, just those that ordered prior to the announcement of a shipping date (I think).  Looks like they still call them preorders so maybe everyone gets the gift until they get caught up?

RE: Prusa Delays

Isn't everything technically a preorder until the first unit has shipped ? I anyway didn't understand why they defaulted to the satin sheet, instead of letting people choose. I'll probably never use it, so thanks for another sheet 😉
Nozzle adapter is similar, if you need abrasive-compatible or high-flow nozzles it's a must-have until PR sell their own.
