PETG and using PLA as supports as Joe discussed in the 1/25/22 Video
Joe mentioned something I did not understand in the Prusa XL video. Something about using PLA as a Supports for PETG?
Can anyone explain what he was talking about?

PLA doesn’t fuse with PETG and only lightly sticks when printed on top of each other, so you can use PETG as a snap off support for PLA or PLA as support for PETG with 0 distance between them to have a good quality underside on big overhangs without soluble supports.

He also seemed to imply that the dry-ness of the filament doesn’t matter, I assume for the support material?

Yeah. That’s my guess. At least compared to water soluble filaments, PLA and PETG seems to tolerate more moisture. Still better to have dryer filaments though.

I noticed that the dissolvable supports in the video were first layer up to object. Has anything been said about only printing the tip of the support is dissolvable material?
This feature seems to have disappeared.

What version of Prusa Slicer are you using? It is a setting to print only interface layers in soluble materials.
