Looking for 3D Printing & Assembly Help for a Prototype
Hi everyone,
I’m an independent designer currently working on a new product, and I’d like some guidance. Do any of you know if there are companies or services that work with individual creators to 3D print prototypes?
I’m looking to produce a prototype and possibly get assistance with assembly as well. The design includes components like two mini brushless motor fans, a battery, a slide switch, a USB-C charging port, and an ATtiny85.
Is this something that 3D printing services typically support? Also, what kind of costs should I expect for prototyping and potentially scaling into long-term manufacturing?
Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!
There are plenty of ways we can help with 3D printing once you have the basic structure settled - be aware that if the product is eventually to go to injection moulding the design constraints are different.
It sounds like you are working on controllable portable fans - you do know that PWM is not suitable for many brushless fans and that an ATtiny85 is unlikely to sustain the necessary currents? You don't mention how battery management will be applied as I presume this will exceed a single-cell power source...
Have you got a working circuit? Does it get hot? If so, how hot? If not you need to breadboard the product, measure the components and start considering their arrangement: all of the components you have listed are simple to incorporate in 3D printed casings and many here have done so...
Costs?
That entirely depends on the size and scope of the product and what safety and radio interference specifications apply: At one end it might be enough to buy a single engineer a drink and take home the specs on the back of a beermat, at the other you might have to cover several years of testing and validation together with compliance reworking by teams of experts...
Why? Because even a small, handheld, battery powered device that happens to operate on the control frequency of a user's pacemaker might have undesired consequences.
Cheerio,

Hi,
Where are you located?
There are companies that offer individual Prototypes but that Road is expensive.
In some countrys exist Makers spaces where people Met and Work on nearly everything together Just for the cause. Maybe thats an alternative.
There is a need for a "Project" SubForum
