Is there any news on the Prusa XL? After two years, you're doing it again?

I realise COVID screwed things up, but this event has been announced for two years. It's been pushed back time and time again. A test video was put on YouTube earlier this year, but nothing has been heard since. Is there anyone who knows what's going on? Is this ever going to be released? Is there any possibility of a date? I'm delighted they appear to be taking their time on it, but crap....

There are many news. Like in this video:

Or in this blogpost: https://blog.prusaprinters.org/de/erster-blick-auf-den-original-prusa-xl-corexy-mit-einer-immer-perfekten-ersten-schicht-und-vielen-neuen-funktionen_58312/

Preorders are open and release is planned for Q2/Q3 2022

I put a deposit down in November of last year.

It is a spendy device, and fully tricked out quite spendy.  But, if it works as promised it could startle the market.  I'm in.

But, if Prusa thinks it isn't ready, I don't want it.  Q2/Q3 is fine with me.  What else is out there like it?  I was so close to getting an E3D Toolchanger.  Glad I waited.

If they are accepting deposits, well, I suspect it is 100% for real.  This is not KickStarter bull crackers.

No, but they are happy to take your money.

I'm going to wait and see if Eric's works before I give them anymore.

No worries.  I have a business need for just such a printer.  Might pay for itself in one job.  Looked at E3D, Fusion 3 (available locally with support),  gCreate (just a few hours up the road), etc.

They want $200 for a spot in line.  I often spend more on a bottle of yummy Whisky.  Unlike Whisky, the $200 is refundable.

If I am happy, the forum will hear.  If I am not happy, the forum will hear.  Maybe.  Love my MK3+ (turbo charged and hi-stylin', makin' money),  not so sold on the forum.  And, be mindful, that we are in the dot-matrix era of 3d printing.  A few years from now people won't even know how or why this era of tech existed.  Much less care.  So, your dot matrix printer is 9 pin?  Cool.

Prusa promised me a 3d printer that worked.  I got that.  Maybe the sour folks got an MMU?

Cheers,

yes I'm pretty happy with my MK3 series units as well, and like you, if it's all its touted to be, one will have a place in my business as well. however I'm going to wait, I'm not a hobbyist. I need for it to work out of the gate as any good tool should. and my MK3's may just see me out as long and hard as they have been working.

Regards

P.S. I'm a Tequila man, and I like the expensive stuff.

Very excited for a complete product to be released , the deposit of only $200 is a great idea on their part. With the manufacturing issues of supply chain parts they need an accurate idea of what the demand is ( as if they wouldn't be surprised demand is huge ) for build volume .   Trying to acquire any of the parts I'm sure is going to be hell.
