Front Control Display

Wonder if that’s a final design on the front control display . It looks a little off in comparison to the rest of the machine and with all the new tech coming with it . The display looks like a Mini control display just put on there .

If all we get is the MINIs screen on it's side, with the same interface (plus extra functions of the XL) Then that's still a tone better than there flagship i3 MK3. Just seeing a picture of the print object before hitting print is a HUGE benefit over anything a monochrome text display can do.

RE: Front Control Display

Well agree , so far seems small screen as 4.3'' !! for such nice big one printer.. on other side i dream to have nice screen touch and as Walter say , seeing picture and icon like all SLA printer, would be a big huge benefit ..the lcd work fine ok but..start to be boring to go up go down . ....

Definitely no touch screens thank you, they are a recipe for disaster for sausage fingered guys like me.

Why do you need to see a picture?  You spent hours designing it so you already know what it looks like on a much bigger screen.

The i3 UI is functional and perfectly acceptable.  If you need more then networking interfaces are available.  Don't buy a printer based on the size of its screen.

Cheerio,

Have you never forgotten a file name? Or printed multiple parts of a main assembly that had to be printed in different batches, all with very similar file names? Or have the rotary encoder read another step just as you press it causing you to accidentally select the adjacent file? Seeing a picture of the model before you hit print is the quickest and easiest way to be sure that this is in fact the file you want to print.

RE: Front Control Display

Concerning your sausage fingers , i understand, we are doing very good plastic surgery 😆 ..

personally why need a pictures !! because i like it that all ...and because when u have many diff gcode on sd card it can be a easier way to view them.

it's not abt design only  The I3 lcd works really good . Also it's nothing to do with printer based on size screen , this is out of subject, by the way so many 3d FDM printer have touch screen and have nice display or accept to be modified by bigger screen as each user like ...

in that way, why change the extruder , why hemera, why blg, why misquito....

i don't think anyone in this forum buy the mk3s because lcd was small !!

et voilà 😎

Filename management is a bit of a black art but most of the time you will be printing the last file loaded so sorting by date simplifies things.  I believe I may have overclicked in the early days but you quickly become used to the interface.

I am unconcerned whether or not there are pictures - I just can't envisage using them, they seem like pointless bloat.

RE: Front Control Display

If they put a touch screen in, please for the love of God make it highly responsive, not the piece of crap on the Palette 3, for example. Between pressing a button and getting a response I can get myself a new cup of coffee...

I can definitely see some really cool HyperPixel mods coming to the XL for this !

The original prusa displays are perfect for what they are and fit the MK3 design style great . I meant originally it just looks kinda small and second thought as compared to the rest of the machine .
