Assembly Warning for “Perfect First Layer”
Many people are having a problem with bed leveling and perfect first layer (I did too)…. I traced the problen down to gaps between the vertical and horizontal aluminum extrusions. They were made with an EXTREMELY tight fit…. You need to go back and forth, and back and forth between the two bolts until the plastic ridges on the vertical extrusion ends are compressed into the horizontal extrusion slots, and there is zero space between the extrusions… it takes alot of force - but use the torque wrench so you don’t snap the bolts (and go back and forth like torquing down an engines cylinder head). If there is any space between these extrusions you will have all kinds of leveling and first layer problems. After I went back and fixed this, my first layer was PERFECT.
Prusa should place this warning in the assembly instructions.

These, I will check them again.
During assembly I actually overthightened 6 over them and damaged the screws. I had to order new. I used the tension meter, but anyway, it looks like the screws are poor quality.

Upper 4 connections also (8 bolts)… not just the lower connections…. My problem was with the upper ones (which I didn’t notice until I tried my first print, and got that error message) - had to take the side panels off, loosen the top rear panel bolts, remove z axis top bearings and two top bolts, so that the top assembly was loose. Then I was able to get at those 8 bolts and slowly torque them down, going back and forth between the two bolts to torque them evenly.
The whole fix took less than an hour, not too bad. That’s what I get for doing the initial assembly late at night when I was tired.

Wouldn't the auto probe Z compensate for this?
