Why no MK2.5s Support?

The getting started topic states: Please note that Prusa Connect is currently compatible only with the Original Prusa i3 MK3/S/+ 3D printers.

Does anybody know the reason not to include the MK2.5S? It is also running the same firmware version as the MK3 series so I don't see why?
Is it because it has the Rambo board instead of the Einsy or is it to keep the beta environment as controlled as possible?

I have tried to connect my MK2.5S using USB using the config found on other topics. Prusalink sees the MK2.5s just fine but there is a message displayed on the LCD that the printer is not supported. I can run the full wizard until the last step. (registering on Prusa connect fails). Which is normal for an unsupported printer.

Mini would be nice but it's a different beast from the MK3 altogether. So I get why it's not in the current Beta. Also because it seems like Prusa is looking at a way to directly integrate it into Prusa Connect.

But the MK2.5 is really close to the MK3. Basically a 12v MK3 with A4982 and end-stops. But same CPU and 250x210x210 build dimensions. The firmware is built from the same source. So that's the reason for my original post.

The only real reasons that I can think of to not include the MK2.5 in the Beta are:

  • The MK2.5 does not report part cooling fan rpm. Only the Extruder Noctua is 3 wire and uses X_MAX_PIN as TACH_0
  • Prusa feels that using a USB connection on a Pi is too much out of scope on the Beta

So, not asking if we can include the MK2.5 atm. Just wondering why it's not included.

USB works like a champ.

Anyone tried a 2.5s?  Don't have one myself.  Idle curiosity during a snow storm for me.

Don’t trust forum advice.

I assume it's mostly to eliminate variables during the beta, it may have to do with that the RAMBo mini doesn't have the RPi port as it is technically intended to be used with. (I'm also currently using my Raspberry Pi 4B with PrusaLink using a USB cable).
