RE: Pi camera?

I did the pip update. Interesting. I’m guessing i will have to flash it again. As I’m using the original enclosure and getting from and to the Pi each time is a real pain, maybe I’ll wait a bit before updating…

RE:

If youbfigure out what it is, that's cool too. I know you need the new libcamera stack but there was some discourse on what to change in the config.txt file (if anything) Changing to the new image was the simplest thing to do for me.

You definitely have to have libcamera-hello on your system. There's no way around that. I use the newer C library's python bindings

RE: Pi camera?

Me again. The camera worked for a day, but stopped working now. libcamera-hello --list-cameras returns "No cameras available!" and obviously, there is no camera available in prusa link. Wiggling on the cables and rebooting/power cycle didn't help. Might not be related to prusa link at all... Has anyone had a similar issue? I'll keep investigating.

RE: Pi camera?

I've had numerous problems with my Octoprint Pi4 and Pi camera. They are very sensitive to cable movement, etc. I finally just replaced it with a Logitech C920X USB camera. All of the camera problems went away.

RE: Pi camera?

Yes, we had multiple cable issues as well. But they usually did resolve with a new ribbon. Just don't plug the thing in while powered up. It can end in a fried camera. I would like someone to explore shielding the ribbon in foil or something just for the heck of it 😁

RE: Pi camera?

Hi,

I just installed the RC3 candidate and all is working fine. I am using a Raspberry camera module v3 with a Raspberry Zero 2W, connected via PINs directly to the Einsy board. How do I get the autofocus activated? It seems the camera does not focus right. I could not find any setting, where this could be set-up.
Any idea how to change the focus of the camera?

RE: Pi camera?

Hi, sadly that one is not working yet. The camera autofocuses once on boot, so maybe try that. With the photo frequency so low, the autofocus is not working at all, so we'll have to figure out a solution to this. The least that will be available in the next version is a manual focus setting. Tedious as that might be. Sorry, hope you can get it to work in some way in the meantime 🫤

The V3 came out real late for me to notice the AF issues.

RE:

Hey,

I got a new cable and replaced it. Made no difference. I measured the resistance of the old cable. It's not broken either. At this point libcamera-hello --list-cameras still didn't return the camera. Reinstalling libcamera helped. Now it says:

Available cameras

-----------------

0 : ov5647 [2592x1944] (/base/soc/i2c0mux/i2c@1/ov5647@36)

Modes: 'SGBRG10_CSI2P' :

640x480 [58.92 fps - (16, 0)/2560x1920 crop]

1296x972 [43.25 fps - (0, 0)/2592x1944 crop]

1920x1080 [30.62 fps - (348, 434)/1928x1080 crop]

2592x1944 [15.63 fps - (0, 0)/2592x1944 crop]

I can also take pictures with libcamera-still. But I still can't see the camera in prusa link:(

Any further ideas?

Johannes

RE: Pi camera?

Weird, seems like it does not support YUYV, please get me the syslog from the settings in local web interface. There might be a clue. Othereise, I'll just try to get my hands on whathever you have and test

RE: Pi camera?

hello there (kenobi style),

sorry to jump in the discussion like that but i just finished to connect my MK3S to prusa link (hoorray as i am a very bad soldering guy)

i want to add a camera to my config. if i understand you, with the last image (0,70 RC3 the one that i use), i can connect with the ribbon, a 2.1 camera directly ? eventually camera v3 but there still some hicups ?

RE: Pi camera?

Hi, yea. Even with the 0.7.0 the focus slider is missing in the web UI. Failed to be loud about it not being merged.

Every pi with enough CPU power should work now, over the pins or usb. USB webcams should work too.

Cameras that have autofocus might just autofocus wrong with no way to fix that. Picam v3 is the most prone to this as I'm telling it to take so few pictures, the AF algorhithm inside just gives up 🙁 will let you focus manually in the next version. Sorry

Do you consider the pi zero 2 w to have enough CPU power ? (Same than 3a if I am not wrong)

over the pins or usb. USB webcams should work too.

I have my pi zero 2 w connectée thought the GPIO so my only option is to go with the com ribbon right ?

I will go with the 2.1, that should be more than enough to supervise my mk3s

Where do you see the cam feed ? On the pi local web server interface? Or on prusa link website ?

RE: Pi camera?

Youp, this should work. We have experienced some with the pins not working when cold soldered, or getting vibrated loose. The ribbon, especially the long versions have been spotty too. USB seems to be more reliable, but the other solution should work too.

Yes, zero 2 w is fine. The pies before Pi2 are very slow tho. Slower than the original zero

RE: Pi camera?

I've just done a fresh install of the latest 0.7.0 PrusaLink on a Pi Zero 2, and have pictures from my PiCam v3 in the local interface.  The main printer integration with PrusaConnect is also working well, and I can print and get telemetry.  However, when I try and register the camera to allow viewing via PrusaConnect I continually get "Timed out when registering camera".  Any suggestions on what the issue might be?

RE: Pi camera?

Fyi, I've just swapped out the official RPi Cam V3, for an official V2, and the Link operation now works.  The picture is also much clearer, because despite a lower resolution on the V2, it doesn't suffer from the autofocus issues of the V3.

RE: Pi camera?

Weird that it would refuse to register the picamera v3. Not sure what went down. Glad it works now

Manual focus is coming, even if in a pretty rudimentary form.

Sorry for the trouble

RE: Pi camera?

No complaint was intended!  The remote printing support is generally great, and the v2 camera gives a nice clear picture.  Thanks for your efforts

RE: Pi camera?

I have the same problem, registering the Pi Camera 3.

Is manual focus working?

RE: Pi camera?

Manual focus does not have UI in 0.7.0 yet, so no. Sorry.
This intermittent camera register issue is weird
