Pi camera V2 guide?

Hi, would be possible to put together guide how to get the damn thing to work?
I have minimal programming skills and somehow my Pi camera V2 just refuses to work at all.
My setup is MK3s+ with RPi zero 2W which works perfectly for printing but getting the CSI camera to work is suspiciously impossible for me. I tried multiple pi boards, multiple different camera modules (mostly V1 and V2) and nothing gets detected. I did got all the boards and cameras working with PiWebcam image but somehow the link does not even detect the camera?  Tried  multiple versions of the link image too and never seen single picture from camera.

RE: Pi camera V2 guide?

Hi, that sucks. Cameras were addes in 0.7.0 i think RC3, best to use the release tho. It should not require tinkering to run, but we can try to troubleshoot.

If you can get access to ssh (put an empty file named ssh without a file extension on the sd card partition that shows up in windows) run libcamera-hello --list-cameras and see if yours shows up. Sorry it's not working out of the box

RE: Pi camera V2 guide?

oh, forgot to mention. Run prusalink stop before the libcamera-hello just to be sure.

I would chuck it up to a faulty cable or connector. Libcamera is the new stack for rpi cameras, if this does not see your camera, nothing else should.

Are you saying that a different sd with different sw recognizes the camera just fine on the same hw?

Yeah no camera detected even after stopping the prusalink.

Tried fresh 0.7.0 image on different SD card and still nothing, while SD with completely different image opens the camera without trouble.
I guess it's just my luck.

Just clarifying, the sd with different image on the same pi?

Could you try a clean new rpi os lite image and do the libcanera-hello on there? At least we would know if its broken just on the link image or if it's the new libcamera stack that's causing trouble.

Oh god, what the flip? Welp, I cannot help you with ghosts. And you probably know not to plug or unplug the CSI ribbon under power already.

RE:

Hi all!

I had the same issue with Raspberry Zero 2 W + Pi Noir V2 camera... It didn´t work 🙁 I ordered "green, normal" Pi V2 camera + new Raspberry Zero 2 W and tried to debug both RPis and both cameras using OctoPi... After a few trials, I was able to run all combinations of cameras on OctoPi... And suprisingly, when I switched back to PrusaLink. Everything worked :O <3 The real reason was that I tried to connect ribbon between Pi camera and Raspberry Zero 2 W for very first time. This connection is super sensitive unfortunately. I was able to run PrusaLink with camera, but when I moved the camera to the position of this model: https://www.printables.com/cs/model/586046-16mm-ball-mount-holder-for-rpi-camera-casing-to-be   Connection was lost 🙁 The ribbon was moved to one side of camera just slightly, but it was enough (I used 15 cm ribbon). So maybe, the longer ribbon is better. You need to be super gentle with ribbon lock on Rpi and Pi camera too. It´s very small piece of black plastic material. Actually, I broke one too... But when I went though these obstacles, PrusaLink is showing me Rpi camera stream <3
