Alternative Micro computers?
Considering the availability issues affecting the Raspberry Pi devices, wouldn't it be useful for users to have an alternative platform that can run this? There are plenty of other manufacturers selling similar hardware that is readily available.
RE: Alternative Micro computers?
Hi, you can install it anywhere, the code and the install guide are on GitHub
RE: Alternative Micro computers?
Thanks! I did mange to find a couple of Pi's at home, but I wasn't too keen on taking them to work for our print lab to use. I'd rather get something else for that.
I'll dig into the Github project and see what looks good.
RE: Alternative Micro computers?
Sorry, I was a little upset about you asking that, as people have already asked the same thing so many times and I have tried to install on a mango pi without success. It would SUCK building images for all these single board computers.
Also, there will be a pip package once 0.7.0 rolls around. Our updater won't work without it 😀
Please let me know if you need help figuring stuff out.
RE: Alternative Micro computers?
No worries, I did scan the forum to see if there was a topic on it. I totally get it about having to customize for each manufacturer, but it REALLY sux not being able to get an actual Pi lately. We would likely have ordered a dozen for our print lab by now, but have been patiently (kind of...) waiting for devices to be available.
Honestly I doubt I'll be successful, but I'll have a look. I'd prefer to just load an image and set a few parameters and start using it. I can see our multiple print guys keeping an eye on all of the MK3+ printers in the lab from their desks. Way easier than walking to check on them.
RE: Alternative Micro computers?
Now working on an Multi-instance setup thingy. So one could set up one big pi to run 4 printers. That is not tested yet tho, just saying it might come. I've recently bought some Pi4 in starter kits and those were available right away.
From the mango it seems like they just gave up building their linux distro and started recommending armbian, which refuses to boot in the "minimal" image config. No raspberry pi tricks and tools work. And with the added challenge of compiling for the platform because it's RISC it was time consuming to get anywhere with it.
Maybe I should have tried a different board first :/
