In the online manual there is that you can use the IS profile as a default, but cannot I lover the lifespan of the printer with it? It just does not look safe with that speeds for me.

Thank you for your help.

I see little effect on lifespan with the IS mode.     It is well within the design capability of the machine.   Had mine for a year now and no ill effects.  Time savings is well worth IS mode.

So you are recommending the IS profile than the standard profile?

Mechanically speaking, the motors, bearings and such can go very fast. Its just that the faster you try to go, the more vibrations you get whenever it stops and goes abruptly.  You get that that the prints start to "ring" really bad and all that mechanical stress isn't great for the screws and the belts. So the machine is forced to slow down greatly to minimize it.

IS has the controller anticipate the vibrations and modulate the motor control to dampen if not outright nullify it. If calibrated correctly: allowing for far greater top-speeds and better print-quality. It can go so far as actually removing more mechanical stress than the speed might contribute! This speed also has a positive effect on the non-mechanical components such as the heaters as they will have significantly shorter on-time during any print.

The only downside is that Input shaping can have a tiny smoothing effect on small details. Like if you want to do very small figurines with the 0.25 nozzle that will be slow anyway. IS gives diminished result and may be worth turning off. But for anything else: IS is my default option.

My advice is that you try the IS and non-IS profiles and decide for yourself. I mostly use non-IS because the sound is less annoying.

When I got my MK4 in January I did some limited testing to compare IS vs non IS in terms of print quality.   I didn't see anything that caused me to not use IS. I only use IS, and haven't given it a second thought.
