It's PLA and the scare is not on the normal profile for the mk4 without Input shaper

I would definitely mention this to customer service through chat instead of only mentioning it on the forum.

This is not an explanation of your problem or an immediate solution, but you might be interested in the possibility of having different type of seam that would be virtually invisible on those parts. See here: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/better-seams/

And on Github here: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11621

I experience the same issue. Any news on the subject?

No activity as far as I know. Maybe you could comment on the linked pages to give the issue a bump.

Can't get rid of this problem after a week and a half of trying out different settings and stuff. It always looks horrible, which is unacceptable because I sell my designs.

Which firmware is the latest one without this issue? Any idea?

I also have this problem with the default settings. Not that extreme, but it‘s more ugly than on my cheaper Anycubic printer.

RE: Mk4 IS Seam scar

@vgdh, who came up with the idea of the scarf seam independently of me, has posted a python script that can be used to post-process gcode files and change the seam from simple to scarf. It is worth trying, I think, and any feedback on the topic is useful. See the posts here: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11948

The script is on GitHub here: https://github.com/vgdh/seam-slope-postprocessor/blob/main/README.md

I noticed this too. Worse than my old mk3. I get it on all materials, PLA, ABS and PETG so far. Why can't they do like vase mode where it lifts Z at the end of the loop rather than a hard stop and restart?

When say "do like vase mode where it lifts Z at the end of the loop" you might be asking about a scarf seam. You should find interesting https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11621 the discussions of seam minimising methods here and here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11948.

Yep, that's exactly what I had in mind. Sure would improve quality and IMO not hard to implement

I´m running in the same Problem here. Since a couple of days in every print and with both dry PLA and PETG big seam scars.. Are there any updates yet?

It looks like an Slicer Issue.

With slicer 2.7.1 I have tested FW Versions  5.1.2, 5.0.1 and 4.7.2 and they all have this ugly seam. But with Slicer 2.6.0 it is much better.

Have a look at my posting here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/11914

RE: Mk4 IS Seam scar

There is now an implementation of scarf joint seams being worked on for OrcaSlicer. It can make the seams disappear almost entirely in many circumstances. You might like to look at it here: https://github.com/SoftFever/OrcaSlicer/pull/3839

RE: Mk4 IS Seam scar

Have you played with adjusting Pressure Advance settings at all?  We have similar issues with our MK4 and just haven't had time to run any Pressure Advance calibrations yet, though plan to shortly.  From the pictures it looks like you are not getting enough filament extruded right when you accelerate away from the seam position?  Seems like it is occurring at a few other points as well.  Little horizontal divots.

You could play with "deretraction extra length" but we find that just causes additional problems.  Maybe try less retraction to begin with? Lower acceleration? Kind of defeats some of the purpose of the higher speeds with the MK4 but might help isolate the problem.

Did anyone found a way for better seams inside of Prusaslicer?
