MK4 bulging corners
Since a week or so I got issues with sharp corners. They are extremely bulgy!
I've read several things on several forums, but found no good solution.
I tried several print profiles, but no change.
Attached are 2 example prints, each about 2.5 cm in size.
MK4 with 5.1.2 firmware. Prusaslicer 2.7.1
The print quality of the MK4 is really annoying. Most China-Printers perform better for much less money!
RE: MK4 bulging corners
what material/temp is this? 😛
RE: MK4 bulging corners
PLA at 220. Standard profile in Prusaslicer.
RE:
What brand and what is its official temperature range? Did you use stock PLA settings specifically for that brand in the Slicer?
Try printing in non-white colour. White filaments often don't print very nicely (depends on the brand too) because white pigment is not great for printability. Does the issue persist? Then we can rule out the "White"-factor.
From a first glance it certainly looks like printed too hot and/or insufficiently cooled.

RE: MK4 bulging corners
PS: Have you checked your part cooling fan? Does it spin correctly? I mean it has a Tacho so the printer should actually know if something is off but it can't hurt to double check.

RE:
The filament is from brand "extrudr" and I used specific settings in the slicer.
I thing the issue exists since my nozzle was heavily clogged. I managed to get it free somehow, but my feeling is that there is still an issue with it. The extruder is sometimes clicking. Maybe there is still a residue in the nozzle.
I ordered a new one which should arrive by tomorrow. I will print the same file again and will compare.
Cheers
RE:
I assume you have tried cold pulling already? Clicking is definitely not normal under well tuned conditions and given that you are at 220°C I don't think it is too cool either, unless you are using a hardened steel nozzle maybe.
You don't happen to have the printer in an enclosure do you? If so, are the doors opened during print with PLA? If not, clogging is to be expected, as is worse part cooling.
I would still recommend trouble shooting with a non white filament (at least in addition), as white just adds more challenges on top of possible issues.

RE:
Clearly looks like too high temperature to me regarding the pictures. If it were under- / overextrusion it normally looks different. Regarding the extruder clicking: use air pressure to remove any existing plastic pieces from the extruder. Could be the thermistor being bad or as already said the fan incorrectly connected or damaged or not able to spin freely. Can you rerun the self-test just to make sure ? Also did you contact support regarding the issue ?
RE: MK4 bulging corners
Thanks for your input.
I got a new nozzle yesterday and the prints look much better.
so I think there was maybe some residue in the nozzle which made under-/overextrusion.
now I’m happy again.
Thanks all.
