It took me some time to upload all the necessary files.
Prusa Slicer took several restarts until it recognized that there is an update named *Input Shaper*
This update is not just *good*. It is just unbelievable.
You folk are doing a veeeery good job.

What I found out:
In Input Shaping Mode the accuracy of the printed part is different from the standard mode.
For example:
A hole which is supposed to be 5,0 mm is in standard mode 4.94 mm, in IS-Mode it is 4.87 mm.

Been meaning to test this out. I know on the non IS firmware I found parts to be incredibly accurate dimension wise. I have printed a few things with M3 screw holes with input shaping and they were perfect but I haven't done any comparisons yet between IS and non IS prints.

I print a lot of things with very tight tolerances so that was my first side by side test between my non IS MK4 and the one with the v5 alpha firmware. Tolerances naturally took the biggest hit due to the smoothing that occurs with IS. The MK4 does an incredible job with dimensional accuracy without IS, hoping it continues to get to the point where speeds can increase while keeping accuracy in tact. That will likely mean something like a 20% speed increase rather than what you see in the full blown IS profiles.
Decorative parts or those that don't require interfaces will always look good but I think dimensional accuracy issues will be a big surprise to those that haven't used a printer with IS previously.

If you want to revert back to stable firmware, please follow the instructions in the handbook. In short: place the stable firmware version on a USB drive, insert it into the printer and during the startup (when the logo is shown), press and hold the knob to force a firmware installation screen. Flash the stable firmware and perform a full factory reset.

In short: place the stable firmware version on a USB drive, insert it into the printer and during the startup (when the logo is shown), press and hold the knob to force a firmware installation screen. Did you make sure you only had the previous firmware on the drive?

There was another thread somewhere on this… Prusa support said the instructions are wrong. Instead of HOLDING the knob, it is supposed to be a “DOUBLE-PRESS” of the knob to force the firmware install screen.

What's more helpful? Incorrect information or correct information? It doesn't help to say somewhere that it's wrong. If the first thing people find when searching for an answer is wrong, then that should be the start of corrections.

Which is more helpful? Stating the problem, or stating the solution? I was just passing along the solution so that users who stumble on this thread will find it. That seemed more helpful than bashing Prusa for a documentation error (which I agree, they should fix with alacrity).

Any idea on when we will see an update. Seems like the Alpha 1 drops wifi more often than the last GA release. The Y axis banging itself to death is also a bit annoying. Other than that I can live with the rest of the bugs.

The next alpha version should arrive next week and the final release should be ready in August, but it also depends on the feedback we’ll receive.
